Missing Moon

Post by Super-T »

Am I imagining it or has the moon disappeared?
My website "Waning Crescent" is a black screen and it would appear that way on other sites as well?

Also black on the Cumulus main screen.

It's just too small a crescent to be able to be shown by the resolution of the graphics. It seems to be correct, see here, for example:

1.7%. I looked at a few other cumulus websites and they were showing a sizeable chunk illuminated so I thought I was missing out on my share of the pie :-)

It's because you're in NZ, Terry, the moon is smaller there :)

Not to mention upside-down, which causes all kinds of other problems. There's even special code in Cumulus to draw the moon the right way round for you. Those near the equator aren't so lucky, I'm not that clever.

Well it's normal Auckland weather....overcast and possible rain so I can't check the rotation of the moon or if it even exists this far south :-) But the water definitely goes the wrong way down the plughole.

I'm sure it is built in to Cumulus and activates based on your Lat and Long coordinates. It's not something you "Use".

Indeed, Kevin is right. The 'special' code looks like this:

Code: Select all

  if Latitude < 0 then
    // Southern hemisphere
    Moon1.Rotation := rot_180
  else
    // Northern hemisphere
    Moon1.Rotation := rot_none;
