Where can I download Cumulus version 1.8.8

I bought a new computer with Windows 7 yesterday, and now I have problems making it communicate with my FineOffset station via the Cumulus software. Firstly, the versions available on sandaysoft.com (version 1.8.9 and 1.9.0) won't work (it says downloading data, but nothing happens). As I understand it this is a well known problem with Fine Offset stations when trying to use them with the latest Cumulus versions.

I then tried to copy version 1.8.8 from my old computer, but then of course the date format issues appeared. Even when I tried to change to US date format and delete all history files, error messages continued to pop up when I asked for all time records. Even when all history files were deleted it continued to say "28.01.2010 is not a valid date" (that was the date I started to use Cumulus). When I try to edit all time records, the whole program crash because of the 28.01.2010 date which I apparantly can't remove from the system through deleting the history files.

Right now it claims that today's average temperature is +2,8C (tonight's minimum was 13,4C).

So I guess I'll have to re-install version 1.8.8. Is the file still available somewhere?

It's not well known to me. Do you have any references for this? As far as I know, no-one else has this problem - not as a 'permanent' issue, anyway.

I don't make old versions available, I can't support more than the latest 'stable' version and the latest beta. It's highly unlikely that it would solve your problem anyway.

The best thing would be to work out why 1.8.9 or 1.9.0 isn't downloading the archive data in your particular case. Please zip up the diags folder and attach it here and I'll see what's going on. It would be useful if you could do it with 1.9.0 as I've added a few more diagnostics.

I have the same problem as DanielF experienced in May. In version 1.8.9 and 1.9.0 it hangs everytime at the downloading screen. In your reply to him you state that a handful of peaople have experienced this problem.

That's a problem with Windows 2000 only, which isn't supported.

The link you provided was for a user using a unsupported operating system. Are you using win2k?

Ok thanks, but I have the same problem with Windows 7. I just found the 1.8.8 downloading file on my old computer (thanks to Firefox for storing them in a separate folder). This version now works perfectly fine on my new Windows 7 laptop. Average temperature etc. is now correct.

I can try version 1.9.0 and send you the error log.

Yes please - note: that's the diags folder (zipped) that I need. There's no reason at all why 1.8.9 or 1.9.0 shouldn't also work for you, so we need to find out what's happening.

Well, now it works perfectly with version 1.9.0 as well. My computer just ran 27 windows updates for an hour or so. Can the updates have fixed the initial problems I experienced? I don't have any other answers... I worked with this for at couple of hours and restarted the computer several times. Then, suddenly after 27 Windows updates, everything works perfectly fine.

Unlikely, because even if the updates fixed something with USB drivers, it doesn't explain why it worked with 1.8.8 but not 1.8.9/1.9.0. It's a mystery - but with a happy ending :)

Absolutely! :) For a moment there I was afraid I'd have to stick with WD or the terrible EasyWeather software.

Thank you for quick replies and good service. For me the Cumulus Software is the best there is. Acutally there is only one thing I'm missing: optional roll-over times. I live in Norway, and over here the meteorological day starts at 8 pm during summer time and 7 pm during winter time. It would be brilliant if my PWS could roll-over at the same hour as the officals, but I guess that would be a time-consuming project?

At the moment, the only options are midnight and 0900/1000 (the latter fitting the meteorological day in the UK and a few other places). I plan to allow other options in Cumulus 2 (i.e. a completely free choice). In theory, it's also easy to add to Cumulus 1, but I will need to have a look at it some time to see if it's as easy as I think!
