Problem with twitter.txt

Post by juaganmu »

Hi,

I was twittering the weather conditions without problems and using the default way, no twitter.txt file was created on the installation folder.
Recently, I decided to create the twitter.txt file in order to translate the information. The file was created using the "Iso Latino 1 encoding" and what I included was:

Code: Select all

Temp: <#temp>°C Humitat: <#hum> Vent: <#wspeed> km/h Direc.Vent: <#wdir> Barometre: <#press> <#pressunit> Pluja hui: <#rfall> mm. Temp max: <#tempTH>ºC Temp min: <#tempTL>ºC
The text that appears on Twitter is the folliwing one:
Temp: «#temp»°C Humitat: «#hum» Vent: «#wspeed» km/h Direc.Vent: «#wdir» Barometre: «#press» «#pressunit» Pluja hui:

So I can't see the values, only the text.
Do you know if other character encoding should be used or if the code is not well formated?
Your cooperation would be helpful.
Thanks in advance

Joan

I created an ISO Latin-1 twitter.txt file, pasted your code into it, and updated Twitter with it. This is the result:

If you can't see anything wrong with your file, perhaps you could zip it up and attach it here? You are using Cumulus 1.9.0, yes?

Sorry! I didn't read the message about the 1.9 version and twitter, now I'm using the 1.8.9 version, perhaps that's the problem. I'm going to update it tonight and see how it works.

Thanks,
Joan

It shouldn't really matter, as far as this problem is concerned, as the code which processes the file is the same. But you should really switch anyway before we go any further, as 1.8.9 will stop working with Twitter soon.

Hi,

I have updated to the 1.9 version, but the problem is still there.
I attach you my twitter.txt file to see if it can help.

Thanks!
Joan

That still works fine for me. But you didn't zip it, so something may have happened to the file during upload or download.

If you turn on debug logging, the Twitter response is logged to the Diags files. So please do that and then attach the latest diags file.

Finally I have started twitting the weather conditions https://twitter.com/meteobenissa
But there's still a problem with the celcius degree codification.
Do you know what could be the problem?

Those characters are in your file, you need to remove them:

Are you creating your twitter.txt file on a Mac - the zip file seems to have come from a Mac? Perhaps that is your problem.

Thanks for your help!
Yes, I did it on a Mac, but I have switched now to a PC and I managed to delete these characters with Notepad++ and it's hex editor.
It should work now.

Kind regards,
Joan
