.. and I'm really not expecting to get anywhere, but thought I would try. I have to say also that it is a little OT and I don't think related to Cumlus but I don't know where else to ask.
I like to play Age of Empires2, The Conquerors Expansion.
Since getting a WH1081 I have found that the game will not run if the wH1081 is plugged in (using USB). Have tried uninstalling the software (Easy Weather and Cumulus) but it makes no difference, the culprit is the WH1081 device being plugged in.
I don't even know where to start!!
Any ideas?

Re: This is a strange one ...
A few others have reported the same problem - I think Terry in NZ is the "expert" at this one. The Fine Offset station seems to cause some sort of problem with DirectX which can stop games - or game controllers - working.

Re: This is a strange one ...
I built a windows 7 pc for playing the games and run Cumulus on the old xp computer so I don't get the directx clashes now
I just found that I g=had to unplug the base station before starting the game and then plug it back in again. Fine Offset suggested that it wasn't their problem but their device is the only one I have seen that does it.

There is no upgrade, on XP; DirectX 10 is only for Vista onwards. There are unofficial hacks to get DX10 onto XP, but do you really want to try that?

Ok, well thanks for the replies.
I'll just keep plugging/unplugging.
At least I know there isn't a fix.
Thanks again.

Re: This is a strange one ...
I have a similar problem, but not related to gaming.
If the station is plugged in (sometimes 2 minutes, sometimes a month) my sound card mixer stops functioning with an error message when trying to adjust volume and file sharing stops. Occasionally Yahoo Messenger dies as well.
I originally suspected Cumulus (sorry Steve) but found it will happen with just the station plugged in. It seems to happen more often when a USB mouse shares the same USB root hub and Cumulus is running, but that may be coincidence - timing is too random to figure out any specific circumstances. A reboot fixes it, so it is just inconvenient.
Thanks to this thread I've discovered that Dxdiags fail. According to the diagnostics, DirectInput crashes when the weather station is plugged in. I have yet to discover the application using it. I guess Windows 7 might address the issue, but I have no near term plans to abandon XP.

Re: This is a strange one ...
What ever Fine Offset say about the DXDiag problem being a Microsoft problem, I still think there is something "quirky" in their use of USB as the console is the only device I have come across that causes the problem.
