As a side note, he is getting rainfall on a clear day but this may be vibration and unrelated. See below.

Wind Speed Spikes
I have a customer that is experiencing spikes in wind speed to 123 mph (see below, 9am) with a WS-1080 (Fine Offset brand). I have seen this with La Crosse and I suspect it is noise injected on the cable. Anyone else see this?
As a side note, he is getting rainfall on a clear day but this may be vibration and unrelated. See below.

I am the "Customer"
I have been getting random spikes every few days to a week of wind speeds over 100mph and the occasional rainfall rate of 99.99 inch/hour.
I am not real impressed by the contrast/readablilty of this console either. The back light must be on and at a good angle to read it.

Re: Wind Speed Spikes
Have to agree with you about the contrast. I have given up looking at the console. I use the Cumulus Gadget and Weather Console on the computer screen to view the data rather than the base station Console. I've added the realtime wind dial to the Weather Console to complete the picture. Everything updates every 10 seconds and the data I see is calibrated (corrected) by CumulusSteve_AI4ZL wrote:I am the "Customer"![]()

As to your other issues with wild readings for wind speed and rainfall, I have not experienced this apart from some odd stuff when I first set up the weather station and installed Cumulus.

Re: Wind Speed Spikes
Regarding the contrast; I know a number of people have complained about this. I find mine to be very good (mine does have the adjustable contrast). I tend to be slightly 'above' the display when looking at it; straight on or slightly below and it soon starts disappearing.
