Cumulus Support

Hi all,
I have only had my website up and running for a few days now and I have noticed that my realtime gauges are stuck.
I have checked my cumulus files on my c:/ and in the webfiles/realtimet.txt it just shows the time and date that the gauges stopped working.
It seems that this file is not being updated by the program.
I have checked that the realtime box is ticked within the internet settings.
Does anyone know why the cumulus program is not updating this file.

It's most likely an ftp problem. If you turn on ftp logging, the realtimeftplog.txt file may have some clues; but sometimes it isn't a lot of help. Restarting Cumulus may get it going again.

Edit: Ah, but you say it's not being updated on your PC? I don't really understand what you're saying, because the realtime.txt file doesn't live in webfiles, it lives in the Cumulus installation folder. That file isn't being updated? If so, all I can suggest is that you try restarting Cumulus, I can't think why it would have stopped updating the file.

Ok I have removed the realtime.txt file from the webfiles folder.
I now have the realtime.txt file in culumus and it is updating.
But when I look on my website www.hawkingeweather.webspace.virginmedia.com it now shows hh:mm by the realtime gauges.
Here is what the realtimeftplog is showing.

You need to check that the directory that you have configured in Cumulus is correct for your hosting. It is possible for 'normal' ftp to work by chance even if you get it wrong, while realtime ftp does not, because of the different way that Cumulus uses the directory in each case. For normal ftp, it changes directory, while for realtime it just does a 'put' with the full path name as above. Because your normal ftp is working, my guess would be that you don't need anything at all for the directory.

I posted this question over in the realtime area but it occurs to me that my problem has nothing to do with realtime....it has to do with how Cumulus generates date and time information.

For instance, because my realtime.txt file has the wrong date format my guages page has the general data upload time for the page as mm/dd/yy, which is what I want, but the real time wind guages just an inch below shows the date as dd/mm/yy.

My realtime.txt file has the date as dd/mm/yy. I want it mm/dd/yy. This is set correctly on my computer as well as on the weather station. Is there an .ini or .xml or something I can change to force Cumulus to generate the realtime.txt date as mm/dd/yy so it matches everything else I've got running?

The date format in the realtime.txt file is fixed... hold on a minute... deja vu!

At least I know which application it is you're talking about now. I don't think the Flash gauges have the option to change the date format. They're not very good and I don't propose to keep developing them. I think someone did work out a way to change it, though, by overlaying the date in the required format over the top, or something like that.

In general, Cumulus uses a fixed format in log files, so that software knows what to expect, and the PC settings for display and web tags. In some cases it uses its own 'fixed' format for display, e.g. the all time records "24 October 2004" style. For the current date and time there are a number of web tags which allow you to construct the date in various formats. It's not all 100% consistent, and ideally there would be more options for configuring the formats, but I need to find a source of days with more than 24 hours in them
