Yesterday disappeared!

Post by tlillas »

I had to reboot my computer earlier today, but the all data from yesterdays log disappeared! :( See http://www.netikka.net/tom.lillas/weather/yesterday.htm

Have I something mis-configured?

It was definitely OK when I looked!

Please zip up the diags folder and attach it, along with the today.ini and yesterday.ini files.

Edit: And when it updated at 12:20 local time, it was OK again. I note that the date format has changed, it nows says "16/06/2010", and when the 'bad' page was there it said "6/16/2010", so I guess this is the problem. At 12:22 local time, it's back to "6/16/2010" and all zeroes. Possibly the Windows 7 date format bug.

The pages seem to be updating more often than the indicated 10 minutes. When they update at multiples of 10 minutes past the hour, the date format is "16/06/2010" and all is OK. They then update 2 minutes later (and every 10 minutes thereafter), the date format is "6/16/2010" and the data has zeroes.

Two copies of Cumulus (on different machines?) both updating the same pages?

Ahaa, I have been trying to make Cumulus run automatically after eg a power failure, and maybe I now have two instances running. This in combination with the Windows 7-date-bug. All pages are autoreloading every 100 seconds as small remark.

Do you think I still should make the zip-package or is the problem solved?

That would certainly cause a few problems - if you do have two instances running, you need to sort it out asap, as it will probably be causing horrible things to happen to your data logs. There is an option in the station settings which attempts to prevent two instances running, but I don't know if it works in all situations.
This in combination with the Windows 7-date-bug.
If you've carried out the work around procedure, you shouldn't see the effects of the that. I think more likely is that the way you have started it automatically is causing it to pick up different settings somehow.

Ok, I shut down the instance I started manually earlier, by accident, when I didn't "see" that Cumulus was already running. I didn't get any warnings. I think I remove it from the scheduler and simply put it back in the Autostart-folder. It was a stupid thing to run it as a service! I didn't realize the effects. Did I mess up all statistic now!? Luckily I have just been running this weather station since 10/6/2010. ;)

I totally agree. Cumulus shouldn't be started in the way I did. I change it back asap!

Thanks once again for your advice!

Some people are successfully running it as a service, but as you've seen, you have to be careful not to start another instance (I don't think the multiple copy detection works when one instance runs as a service), and you have to be careful about what user it runs under when it runs as a service.

Possibly. Both copies will have been writing to the log files, and one of them may have been using the wrong format. But you could have a look at the log file and see how it looks. It may just be a case of deleting some of the lines. Or you might be lucky and the extra lines are OK anyway :)

Now the yesterday page should be working again. I killed the Cumuls service and started as a normal program. :geek: Seems that the log files were locked since two instances were running -> no damage -> lycky me! 8-)

I shall try to not create more problems for now on, but I cannot promise anything! ;)

Best regards,
Tom

PS. Just added the webcam link in Cumulus. Worked fine!
