Hi!
I red the Cumulus Wiki about this subject, but I need to verify my conclusions because my situation is different.
My station Vantage Vue is connected to Cumulus through Virtual VP.
On friday 11/6 I shut down the PC for about 2 hours. This morning (I didn't monitor the station during weekend) I've found a false rain on friday. In GIU10log.txt I see that the "total rainfall counter" was 375.8 before shutting down and 477.3 after. It's 477.3 till yesterday afternoon when a 0.2 mm rain occurred and become 477.5.
After shutting down again this morning the value is 376.0 and the today.ini "start" is 376.
Now I want erase the error from my records, my guess is:
- change "total rainfall counter" in GIU10log.txt according with real values
- change the "total rainfall today so far" for friday to 0
Is this enought? Do you know if is it possible to modify the records in Weather Underground, PWS and APRS?
Many thanks.
Stefano

Re: Rain error
It's a bit odd, the counter doing that. I see there's a gap in your data:
11/06/10;08.30;23,9;53;13,8;1,6;4,8;41;0,0;0,0;1012,43;375,8;27,7;44;3,2;23,9;23,9
11/06/10;11.00;29,4;35;12,4;3,2;12,9;153;0,0;101,5;1012,23;477,3;26,3;43;12,9;29,3;29,4
11/06/10;11.30;30,1;32;11,6;3,2;9,7;202;0,0;101,5;1012,30;477,3;26,3;43;6,4;30,1;30,1
I think that the problem is because you are using Virtual VP, it sometimes fails to give Cumulus the archive data at start up. To be honest I'm not really sure what you need to do to fix your data, as it depends on what happens the next time you start up - but yes, you need to edit the figures that you suggest.
I'm afraid that the use of Virtual VP with Cumulus is not reliable, as the Davis DLL which Cumulus uses causes Virtual VP some problems which apparently are hard to fix as the problem is not reproduceable by the author.
I don't think you can correct the data on those sites; on WU I think you can delete entries, though.

Re: Rain error
Hi Steve,
I suspected the problem was related with Virtual VP, right now all is working fine.
The gap was due to the shut down: I let the PC cool down for a couple of hours.
Just to let you know: I sent a ticket to Wunderground and they corrected the data.
Thank you.
Stefano

Re: Rain error
It is possible to edit your own lines in the tabulated data in Wunderground but I don't know about the others. First, you need to select "Enable Entry Deletion" at the bottom of the tabulated data list on your own Wunderground PWS page. Then, you select/delete each individual entry with bad data in it. Once having corrected the data in your own data set, you should then be able to re-upload the relevant data to Wunderground again. I'm not sure how this is done in Cumulus but in the WLink software that is the Davis station offering, you select Wunderground from the far left dropdown "setup" icon, then the time/date range you want to re-upload then just select OK. The data should then be re-uploaded and should re-appear just as it was. The only proviso is that, at least withWLink, the high wind gust data for each interval is not accepted on archive upload but everything else is there.SteFra wrote:Hi!

I often do this archive upload process, not usually because of bad data, (although I do get rare occasional individual erroneous humidity readings of 99-100% in the data), but to upload archived data if the logging computer has been off for any reason and various real time uploads have been missed so that my Wunderground record remains complete.

Re: Rain error
Currently in Cumulus, it's not possible to upload historical data to WU. My initial tests with this appeared to show that it was not possible (WU ignored the timestamp and treated all the data as current), but it appears that WU was having a bad day (or maybe I was) and more recent tests have shown that it is possible. At some point I'll get around to implementing it.Pete B wrote:you should then be able to re-upload the relevant data to Wunderground again. I'm not sure how this is done in Cumulus

Re: Rain error
Hi Steve/or anyone else,
Has historical upload to WU ever been implemented or does anyone have any other method of doing this? I did see there was a thread in the Cumulus 2 board in which Steve said he planned on doing it but obviously that isn't a valid route anymore.
Cheers

Re: Rain error
It's implemented in so far as it catches up with data that was downloaded from the logger at start up, so there are no gaps for the periods that Cumulus wasn't running (barring problems communicating with WU).bigmac wrote:Has historical upload to WU ever been implemented or does anyone have any other method of doing this?

Re: Rain error
Thanks Steve, I probably need to be more descriptive with my question.
I have been running Cumulus since June last year but have only recently created a WU account and started uploading to it from Cumulus then. So my question is can I upload all the history in Cumulus prior to when I started my WU account?
Thanks again for your patience

Re: Rain error
There's no general 'upload some particular data from the past' facility as there is with WU's Weatherlink uploader. Maybe one day. It's actually something that someone else could write, it doesn't have to be part of Cumulus; just as the Davis WU uploader wasn't written by Davis.bigmac wrote:I have been running Cumulus since June last year but have only recently created a WU account and started uploading to it from Cumulus then.
