Running 2 copies of Cumulus

Post by scotweather »

I have 2 weather stations a WS2300 and an Oregon Scientific wmr928n.
Ideally I would like to have both running on cumulus on the same computer (2 different installations of cumulus of course)
I have tried it and it appeared to work for a while but eventually they would blow up my winsock.dll so that I had no access to the internet from this computer. The only solution then was fix the winsock then to reboot the PC to get back internet access but if I ran both installations of Cumulus the winsock would die yet again.
I am using Windows XP home and Cumulus version 1.8.9 build 895

So is it possible to run 2 independent versions of Cumulus for 2 different weather stations ?

Many Thanks in advance!

I've been doing it for more than a year now without any issues.

You just need to make sure that each installation is in its own directories. I used c:\cumulus and c:\cumulustp

Updates are a bit of a pain, but not that hard.

Had them both in different folders and they still blew up the winsock.

Are they both uploading to the same ftp server? Perhaps this is causing a problem. It shouldn't cause a problem as far as Cumulus is concerned, but perhaps there is a problem at the server end, maybe causing Cumulus to use up TCP ports. I don't really understand what 'blew up the winsock' means.

I had an issue using another program, not cumulus because it was uploading to often to my ISP. You might be bombing your ISP and they are shutting you out. By using 2 programs one may upload immediately followed by the other so it appears like a constant upload.
Like Steve not sure what winsock is.
Just an idea.

I had this FTP overload trouble until I set up a separate FTP account for each application and yet another for my manual use. That cured it.

Sorry, no banner - weather station out of action. Hoping to be up and running with a new home-made one soon.
