I need a hint to solve this problem - during a battery change at the sensor / transmitter the data files received incorrect readings
I loaded the data files into a spreadsheet, to make it easier for me to identify the appropriate field, corrected the data and afterward edited the corrected files (less the spreadsheet headings) in a word processor to remove any unwanted characters inserted by the spreadsheet, to add a leading zero to dates 1 to 9, and check for blanks etc.
Now Select a Graph does not show anything from the corrected files - earlier data is OK
Comparing the data subsequently recorded with the corrected data I cannot see an error
An explanation of the select a graph process would be of assistance in helping understand where I could have messed up
Using version 1.8.7 build 819 (working perfectly until ...............)

Re: No graphs after data file corrections
I had a similar problem a while ago and found a blank line in the data file.
Removed it and all was well after that.

Re: No graphs after data file corrections
Yes, it could be a blank line, or something else that you've introduced that Cumulus doesn't like. I don't recommend using a spreadsheet to edit the files; they tend to mangle the date formats as well as the numbers. Cumulus stops reading the log files when it encounters something it doesn't understand, just to be on the safe side. Later versions of Cumulus log a message in the diags file showing the problem file and the line number. If you don't want to upgrade, and can't spot the problem, upload the file that you edited, and I'll have a look.
David's toolbox is very good for editing the log files; it gives you a 'safe' spreadsheet-like interface.

Re: No graphs after data file corrections
Thanks Gerard and Steve for your reply
I will upgrade and checkout the diag file - I had a strong feeling that the spreadsheet had done "something" to the format of the data but not able to see what was changed - I had corrected the date error
Thanks for the hint on the edit program - that will save a lot of correcting format changes which ms is keen on doing

Re: No graphs after data file corrections
Searching for a problem I had tonight I came across this thread. Cumulus crashed when I was trying to look at the graphs, so I restarted it. Then the graphs of today's data -wind, temps etc were all blank, but rain and max/min/av temps for past month were still there. The daily graphs were starting again from 20:03 when I rebooted the laptop to try and make the graphs work.
Searching back through June10log.txt I initially found no problem, but going back further I found a line offset way out to the right just before 15:00 yesterday afternoon. No idea why that appeared ,since the graphs were working just fine last night.
