I've decided to transfer Cumulus to an efficient low power PC so that leaving it on full time is less expensive.
Is there anything I need to be aware of in transfering the software and data? What is the best way of going about this?
I've searched for info in posts but can't find anything.
Bob

Re: Transfering to another PC
There's an entry in the FAQ, but it doesn't say much - mainly because it's straightforward. Just install Cumulus and copy over the data folder (with Cumulus stopped). You can probably also copy over your cumulus.ini file so you keep all your settings, to save putting them all in again. Also, any files that you've created yourself, e.g. twitter.txt and/or strings.ini.

Re: Transfering to another PC
I've done it several times with no problem
Using .ini file rather than the registry makes it much easier to transfer settings.

Re: Transfering to another PC
I'm up and running already. As you say Gina, the ini file makes it very easy. I also copied across a heap of other files in my as I have changed my web files quite a bit, plus the iphone bits and pieces. It was really very easy.
The PC I'm using for Cumulus is an Asus Eee Box B202, with 2Gb RAM and running Windows 7. I'm able to use the HDMI port on my monitor making it easy to switch between my main PC and the Cumulus box. It takes a bit to get used to 2 x PC, mouse and keyboard on one monitor, but it works. The Eee Box mounts on the back of the monitor.
Sorry to bore you with the details, but it is kinda niffty.

Re: Transfering to another PC
I have attempted what I think is a rather daring and straight forward transfer of data and program files from one computer to another - and it worked.
I simple copied the Cumulus folder and all its sub folders to a new computer and created my own program shortcut. Everythiing is working fine. OK, I know that the uninstall for Cumulus is not in the system on the new computer, but I know where all the files are and it is not an issue as a result.
Can anyone, including Steve, see any problems with my approach? It certainly made transfering Cumulus and data a breeze.

Re: Transfering to another PC
Should be fine as Cumulus doesn't use the Registry. This means that when uninstalling, no cleaning up is required other than to delete the folders.

Re: Transfering to another PC
It should be fine. All the installer does, other than creating the shortcut and the uninstall info, is copy the files. Cumulus itself doesn't use the registry; everything is contained within the installation folder.
