Wrong wind readings

Post by jackq »

Hello,
i'm new to Cumulus, I installed it to monitor a Davis VP2+ in my office, I'm planning to use it also in my personal Lacrosse 2350 at home.
I'm reading different wind speed values from the ones displayed on the station, the 'Latest' value shows a different speed, a lot lower than the one displayed, it seems that the difference is about 3,6, about the conversion value from m/s to Km/h but I might be wrong, the station displays the value in Km/h and as well the software.
-The box 'Calculate 10 min wind average is not flagged
-Use speed for avg calculations is flagged
Did Somebody face already the same problem?
Thanks in advance,
Jack

The Davis DLL handles all the unit conversions, and it works fine for me in MPH, and I know that people are using it in km/h too. You're comparing the 'latest' value as shown by Cumulus with the figure shown in the centre of the wind dial on the console? You definitely have the console and Cumulus both set to km/h? You don't have a multiplier set in Cumulus? How does the 10-minute average figure shown on the console compare with the average figure shown in Cumulus?

Can you be more specific about the difference in the values - give some examples? Perhaps also a screen shot of Cumulus, and give the console reading at that time.

You haven't tried to change the units in Cumulus since you started it, have you? Have you tried restarting Cumulus?

I restarted Cumumus many times since the first installation on the monitoring PC. Also one hour ago I did, but after restarting it few minutes ago it finally worked. I'don't have screenshots but I took many times the values displayed and the difference was about 3,6. Anyway it was surely my error not to restart it as soon as I made some change, of course we're testing it because we prefer it to our previously installed Weather Wing WS-2 unit.
Thanks again.
