You maybe missed a question from Steve which could be key -- I never saw it being answered
You're running it in the same user as the one you used to take that screen shot of the date settings? You're not running it as Administrator, for example?
Basically, is Cumulus being "Run As Administrator" whereas you are logged in to the windows session as someone else? Or is it being run as a service/at startup?

I'm not aware of doing so - there are no other user accounts on the machine, and Cumulus is not being run as a service. I boot up and use the prog - though this morning missed sensor contact has produced a whole set of corrupted data I need to purge at some point.

Exactly how running as admin would alter the date string though I find difficult to follow.

Cheers

It might have been left at the default US setting rather than UK in one account and changed in the other.

I Googled a bit, and it seems that this is a known problem in Windows 7 (or perhaps Win 7 and Delphi in combination). The work around that seems to work for everyone else is to change your regional settings to something else and then back to UK, i.e:

1) Open Regional and Language Options
2) Under "Format" pick anything else. (eg: English (United States)).
3) Press "Apply"
4) Under "Format" pick your desired locale (eg: English (United Kingdom)).
5) Press OK.

Hopefully that will fix it, but you will then probably have some tidying up to do with your log files.

First time it failed, but a second time and it has worked! Many thanks Steve for the nudge in the right direction. I hope if indeed it is a Delphi related issue that it won't re-emerge if I need a re-boot!

Perhaps a brief note in a sticky somewhere might not go amiss!

Thanks for the help once again,

James

I have had the same problem. I am running Windows 7, it is a bug somewhere, although I don't know what or where. I saw another post that said that a workaround was resolved in release 913. I am on the latest release and it wasn't resolved BUT the workaround by changing my settings has worked a dream.

The sequence of events up to resolution was as follows:

After rrstarting my computer it took for ever to load settings. This is because it read the date as US.

The today.ini file was in US format

I then changed the today.ini to the UK format and all was well. I then exitted the program and came back. It was reverted to the US Date.

I then exitted and changed my settings in Control Panel, now it stays stable even after I exit.

At least until the next time!!!
