Trying to correct a data entry
Hi folks,
A few days ago there was an errant piece of data - showing as an exceptionally low temperature on April 28th. I can edit the record temp as I know what the previous recorded low temp was - and when from a back-up file. But I can't see it on the Apr10log.txt and it appears on the trends temperature graph still.

Could anyone shed a bit of light?
In case anyone wanted to wade through the log:

Many thanks in advance,

Re: Trying to correct a data entry
It will be in your dayfile.txt -- the historic graphs of previous days use this for all their data
format is here
http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/dayfile.txt
Or use the Cumulus Toolbox as it has a file editor built in
(remember to close down Cumulus to edit files)

Re: Trying to correct a data entry
I now have a much bigger problem.
I stopped Cumulus - edited the file - restarted and the program is stuck on an opening page 'downloading data' - after 10 minutes there is still no response.
I have tried re-installing - to no avail.
I have tried easywethaer and it appears to pick up the unit.
I have cleared the unit memory
I re-started the machine from cold and made sure nothing else was running.
Any help would be hugely appreciated!
Cheers

Re: Trying to correct a data entry
Oh dear!
what did you edit your file in?
Anyway, best to revert to a backup. Take a copy of the complete Cumulus folder first.
There will be a backup folder under Cumulus, and then ten folders. Select a recent folder, copy all the files and over write the same files in the data folder.
Your console would then catch up - however you say you have cleared your unit memory (which was a bad thing as you may now have lost some catch up data)

Re: Trying to correct a data entry
yes - as soon as I plug in the unit - either before or after starting cumulus the box comes up and instead of the progress to completion it hangs with no progress indicated.daj wrote:so what state are you in? Is it sticking at downloading?

Re: Trying to correct a data entry
Best to turn on the Debug log, close down Cumulus, restart and let it stick. Then we can have a look at the debug.log file Cumulus produces to see if that gives us a clue.
If that gives us no clue we need to zip up the diags folder and check it out

Re: Trying to correct a data entry
OK The debug.txt file is over 8mb - I think I must have left it on previously by mistake? So I've posted it on my web site at:daj wrote:Best to turn on the Debug log, close down Cumulus, restart and let it stick. If you know how I should edit it down then please let me know,

Re: Trying to correct a data entry
Steve his given me a ticking off before for leaving my debug log on -- apparently it can cause Cumulus to hang/crash
make sure debugging is on
Close down Cumulus
rename the file
restart Cumulus
it will create a new log file which is far more sensible in size to check

Re: Trying to correct a data entry
Have you changed any settings on your PC? Specifically Regional Settings?
Your PC/Cumulus thinks it is 5 January 2010 (5/1/2010) rather than 1 May 2010 (1/5/2010) in some of the data it is trying to load

Re: Trying to correct a data entry
The start of the diagnostics file.....
And compare it to mine
You can see on yours that every lines starts 5/1/2010
Your comparison of the today file is comparing two different dates; also your time is written as "3:45:00 PM" and that is not the normal UK Regional setting
Your last line of the extract is looking at the January log file
All these concern me!
