updating a local web server

Post by brue24 »

Hi
I am attempting to get a cumulus website hosted on a PC locally running appache 2. I have copied all of the files listed in the web howto however it appears that my realtime data is not being updated. I have configured the realtime option and browsed to the root path of my www files however nothing appears to be updating. Can someone please help me understand the upload process better

cheers

The upload process uses FTP to transfer files to your web server, therefore in your internet settings you should have the necessary details. You only mention a realtime problem so does that mean the standard web files are updating ok?

can we see a screen shot of your Internet settings in Cumulus

thanks

Sure, My webserver is also the box that Cumulus is installed to, can I just do a copy of the entire cumulus\web directory and use the copy images function under the internet setup to copy the updated images to the dbimages folder of my web server document path?
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

The simplest solution would be to let Cumulus FTP the files. If you have apache installed you will probably have access to FTP on your local web server.

In the web settings your server would be 127.0.0.1 which is the local host (same PC as it is on). Port 21. Directory weather Username and password would be the ones you created during installation of apache probably

Cumulus would then happily FTP all the files and graphs (in this case to the same machine)

The more complicated way would be to do what you are doing now, however you are double 'processing' the files. There is no need to tick the Process option for each file as Cumulus has already done that as part of the Standard files. Your third line of the settings will not work as you are trying to copy a whole folder, Cumulus needs each file listed

Using the realtime tick is wasteful for anything other than the realtime file as the others are not updated 'realtime'

You still have the problem of all the graphs!

Can you try using FTP, otherwise there are lots of other non-Cumulus solutions available but best to try and keep it simple if we can

No worries, I have noticed that some parts are updating and not others. I will setup FTP and do the updates the prescribed way so this should help. Thanks again for your time and efforts
