Max/Min and Rainfall Data in 'View Graphs' show 2020 data??
For some reason these two graphs are no longer working correctly. They both show data for 1/12/2020 to 31/12/2020. I have gone through every data file and none appear to have been corrupted. Nothing appears to make any difference. As these are the only two graphs with a months data as opposed to daily data where can do they get data from and what has gone wrong? They have not changed for several weeks - just stuck displaying this particular (future) period.(Cumulus Version 1.8.9 build 930. Weather Station Watson W8681). Wish it predicted future lottery numbers.

Hi, and welcome to the forum.
Each of these graphs takes it data from the dayfile.txt file so one would assume there is an issue there. Can you upload your dayfile and we can have a look

Sorry never had a chance to add a note. I am also sending screen shot of the View Graph panel.

Your dayfile date format has changed near the bottom....
Cumulus can not handle changes to date format, units changes for temp, wind etc, everything needs to be consistent.
Did you change your regional settings on 7 April, or the date format? You can see how your year has went from four digits down to two
Code: Select all

Re: Max/Min and Rainfall Data in 'View Graphs' show 2020 data??
Thanks for the prompt reply. I have changed the year format from /10 to /2010 in the dayfile but to no effect. The graphs still show the date range 1 - 31/12/2020. I haven't changed any of the units (or not knowingly). Although I have data from late April 2009 I am tempted to delete all the files and the program and re-install as I would rather have good future data and the unchanging December 2020 graphs are annoying, and I have spent a lot of time looking for the reasons!

I assume you edited the dayfile when Cumulus was not running? You would also need to ensure you regional settings on the PC are correct.
The dayfile expects all the dates to be in in dd/mm/yy - I am not sure how you got some early dates with four digit years

I changed one entry in my dayfile from yy to yyyy and got the same result as you are now getting so it's clearly the dayfile date problem

I will try changing all dd/mm/ yyyy to /yy and see what happens. Thanks.

Not solved
Same problem, have never edited my file. Cumulus did this all on it's own.
Given that I have data from July 2009, I certainly can't go back and change every date by editing...it would take months!
Any easy fix?
Mike

Re: Max/Min and Rainfall Data in 'View Graphs' show 2020 data??
The "dayfile.txt" file is just a delimited text file, and virtually any text editor has a "search and replace" function. So if the problem is the dates have mm/dd/yyyy and you need mm/dd/yy, as in 4/30/2010, just search for /2010 and replace with /10. Quite simple to cover only two different years.mpoling wrote:Not solved

Just make sure you have a backup file before you start.

Nope!mpoling wrote:Cumulus did this all on it's own.
You must have changed your PC settings at some point to change your date format

Re: Max/Min and Rainfall Data in 'View Graphs' show 2020 data??
Cumulus uses a system function to format the date in dayfile.txt, and asks for the format "dd/mm/yy". The 'slash' becomes whatever your system date separator is set to, but you would assume that "yy" always gets returned as a 2-digit value, so it seems unlikely that Cumulus could ever write the date in dayfile.txt with a 4-digit value.
