has any one do this ?
here what it does
Whats New in Version 1.90 (December 31, 2009) - Cabled
and Wireless Versions
Fixed clearing of yearly ET history data.
Fixed a bug that caused the barometer value to have a large error after
updating to firmware version 1.82 .
Fixed a bug that caused the console to not reflect the change
immediately when changing units in software.
Fixed graph so that zooming to a different span always starts at the first
point.
Fixed display of historical yearly rain totals over 813 mm for 0.2 mm rain
collectors (highs, lows and graphs).
You can now only get to the Receive Diagnostics Screen from the
Current Screen.
Cabled console will now gracefully handle a serial command terminated
with two of \n or \r characters.
Added new serial command "LPS 2", used by WeatherLink, to support
2-minute average wind speed, 10-minute wind gust, last 24-hour of rain,
last 1-hour of rain, and altimeter.

I've been using it on my VP2 cabled USB interface system since it became available and have had no problems of any kind. I wasn't having any problems before so I can't say that it fixed anything for me.

Re: new davis vp2 firmware ?
I upgraded to v1.90 some time ago, in the hope that the daylight savings auto settings were corrected. However this was not the case and the auto DST times were wrong. This is despite Davis being emailed more than a month before the new release (18 Feb 2010). I told them it was still wrong and the response was:
"Since Australia and New Zealand both have changed their DST change dates, all users in these countries should use the Manual settings for Daylight Saving by simply using the Manual ON and OFF setting when the time change occurs"
Apart from the DST, everything else works fine though
