Error installing 1.8.9

Gday All,
I have been running v1.8.8 with no issues what so ever on my windows 7 32 bit system. I have had it uploading to my site. This is amazing that I did not need assistance to do this, says a lot about how good the program is.
Any way I tried to update to v 1.8.9 today and I get an error box appear after I click next after selecting to Install to the location of the existing files (c:\cumulus) this is the error : Access violation at address F068086A. Read of address F068086A.

What does this mean?? I also tried to install to another directory (c:\cumulus1) and got the same error. I also turned cumulus v1.8.8 off before installing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The screen after selecting the installation folder is the component selection screen, where you get to decide whether you want the HTML templates installing (this is new in 1.8.9), so it hasn't started trying to install yet. You don't get to see that screen?

I use Windows 7 myself (as do others) without having this problem. Have you tried running the setup as administrator?

Thanks for the quick reply Steve. Yes I have tried running as Admin, I still get the same error. It allows me to select where to install then I click next and the box appears with the error. I click OK and the box just reappears. I need to open task manager to stop it from running. I am sure it will be operator error this end but it has me beat.

I've checked and I'm not quite using the latest version of Inno Setup (which is the installer which is crashing), but there is no mention in any of the recent changes about fixing a crash, so I don't think using the latest version is going to solve this. Have you tried downloading it again, you may have a corrupt download?

Yes I have downloaded a new version, I ahve also saved it to a different folder etc and I get the same error. I can see the next box you are talking about under the error box but can not get rid of the box without going to task manager and ending the installer.

I'll build a new installer with the latest version of Inno Setup, and send it to you in a PM to see if that helps.

Thanks for your help Steve but I have solved it. Not sure what the exact issue was but I found a virus and after a reboot of the machine, it all works.
