X7062 style generics
X7062 style generics
Greetings all, new to this forum hope I'm posting in the right place? I pulled the back of an X7062 style generic today to fit an antenna socket (the little 433 MHz internal wire just wasn't giving the range to the sensors). I was dumbfounded to find a relay in there! I mean this thing runs for a year on 3 x AA batteries there is no way they can power a 5v 50mA relay & even if they could it doesn't seem to be wired to anything?!
I was just wondering if anybody has the gen on this mass produced Chinese import? There were a few other bits & pieces behind the rear cover that I don't really understand, a curious silicon wafer in a little metal ring & a sub board boasting a 2 terminal device with a big circular heatsink (again not in keeping with a low power battery operated device).
I know, I know I should get a life, fit the antenna connector & be done with it! But my curiosity is piqued now & google isn't helping much so here I am.
By the way pretty neat how you guys managed to get an X7062 onto the web, that was gonna be by next project.

Re: X7062 style generics
If this is a Fine Offset device (as it sounds like) then this is the right place. The relay runs off the USB power and switches power from the batteries to the USB when USB power is available. The thing that looks like a heat sink is the humidity sensor I think and the other is probably the temperature sensor. These measure the indoor environment. There is also an atmospheric pressure sensor so I may have things mixed up - I'm going from memory from when I last had the console apart.
EDIT to say, I'm sure I read a thread in these forums about the function of these strange looking components - I'll see if I can find it for you. Don't worry about seeming over curious, I'm just the same as are many others on here. Welcome to the club

Not surprised. The forum's got a bit big and the search facility isn't great. And other things that I won't mention.Gina wrote:I'm sorry but I've had a good look and a Search and haven't been able to find it

I can see the pictures too; they're not hosted in the forum, here's a link to one: http://home.xmsnet.nl/hanmir/1.jpg

Re: X7062 style generics
I have found why I couldn't see the pictures. I use the opendns http://www.opendns.com/ for filtering content etc, it seems that http://home.xmsnet.nl/hanmir/ is rated as a pornography site and was therefore being blocked
I don't know what Hans has be up to

Re: X7062 style generics
well, that should make big money then
unfortunately it is just the free space i get from my provider.(xmsnet)
apparantly someone at opendns finds a name with an "X" in it pornographic.
hope the pictures of the fine offset are still to see for others?

Re: X7062 style generics
The photos are visible and very helpful
Maybe I might suggest uploading them to this forum.
