My Davis console is reading the current conditions and displaying them. These conditions are correct or very close to being correct as compared to other sources here in Marksville, LA.
The Cumulus screen on my XL PC has a reading from very early this AM. ie; outside temp 74.1F. Cumulus screen showes 74.1F a reading that was valid earlier today, but now the Davis console is reading a temp of 81F and the Cumulus screen still reads 74.1F. It is NOT just the temp it is all data is not being updated on the Cumulus screen or at the APRS.fi site etc.
When I go to APRS.fi for KD5JZC weather I see the same data everytime it updates. It also showes the same way when I goto Google Maps. The aprs site showes it is updating every 9 minutes but it is always reporting the same reading I have on the cumulus screeen on the PC.
On the lower right of the Cumulus screen I see a statement "Archive records read:0 Last data read at 10:18:57"
Every once in a while I think 9 minutes the Cumulus screen blinks. ALL the data on the screen is the same as noted early today.
The STATUS indicator NEW RECORD was blinking green earlier but now does not blink at all.
Am I require to setup some files or folders to receive the data from the Davis console and be updated everytime the Davis reports?
I thought everything was working, but when I actually looked at the data I realized Cumulus is not updating or not receiving the updated data from the Davis consol ??
I am not real PC literate but I usually can figure out what to do. This Davis console ran for 4 years 24/7 using WeatherLink on an xp lap top and sent data to the APRS.fi and never gave me a problem. Late last year I took a lightning strike that killed all the TV's, PC's, Radios, appliances etc. The cause was a coax line that was left ungrounded from a test antenna that was hit by the lightning and then followed into the Ham Room. All other hardwae etc has been repaired or replaced. I have a dedicated XL pc for the weather station and plan on it running 24/7 as before. I want to use Cumulus rather than the WeatherLink but I think I need more help in getting it setup. I have read the Help files etc but don't understand all of what I am reading.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: New to Cumulus and trying to setup a Davis Pro2
Is/was this the current time, or from earlier today? If the data isn't being updated then Cumulus has probably lost contact with the station. Could you zip up the diags folder and attach it, please? You could try restarting Cumulus and see if you get an error message or whether it starts updating again.KD5JZC wrote:On the lower right of the Cumulus screen I see a statement "Archive records read:0 Last data read at 10:18:57"
If it was updating OK previously, then you've set it up correctly. The only setup required (as a minimum) is to select "VP2" as the station type, "serial" for the VP connection type, and enter the correct COM port number. I'm sure that you've done this, so that's all there is to it.I want to use Cumulus rather than the WeatherLink but I think I need more help in getting it setup

Re: New to Cumulus and trying to setup a Davis Pro2
Steve I went back through and re-read all the initial instructions and such. Then I came to the same conclusion that you told me !
Enter the proper Port Number and Vantage Pro2 and the program should at least get the data from the Pro2. Tried again with the same results so!
I choose to uninstal the C:Cumulus via the windows uninstal program. My plan was to reinstal from scratch and start over taking one simple step at a time. I am now incountering a problem . I can not unistal the Cumulus program. I most likley am doing something simple but wrong. I am going to set this project aside for the rest of today and come back to it when I am fresh in the Morning.
Thanks for trying to assist me and I will get this to work, it is just going to take me some time.

Re: New to Cumulus and trying to setup a Davis Pro2
I connected the Davis Console to my New PC runing Vista and downloaded Cumulus to it.
I used the same serial to USB cable I was using on the XP PC.
I entered the Port number and BAM !!!! there was the data from the Console. I went in and set up the Internet settings and then went looking at Finf U and APRS.fi. Data is there and updating just as it should be.
The problem is not something I would have ever thought about. The XP PC has been my workhorse for several years and was the only PC out of three that the lightning did not hurt. The Hard Drive is so close to being full that there is not enough room to delete Cumulus and the files associated with it. That was presented to me in a msg from the machine. I called Dell and talked to one of their techs and he said I need to get rid of some stuff to make room, then defrag the drive and then I should be able to delete cumulus completley. He thought maybe a portion was corrupted and that was part of the problem, but he was very sure of my Hard drive being within 6% of full.
Now that I know the Davis Console, The Serial to USB cable etc are all ok I will get cumulus removed then reinstall and everything should be fine. I hope
I will let you know how I makeout.

Note that uninstalling Cumulus doesn't actually do very much; it just deletes the files that got installed initially (and deletes it from add/remove programs). All of your data and configuration files are still there. To completely remove all trace of Cumulus (if that's what you want to do) you need to delete the folder where it was installed after uninstallation.
