regarding point 3 there is info on the yawcam forum about running more than 1 camera. You have to install yawcam twice in 2 different folders and then make a couple of configuration changes. Unfortunately their forum is down at the moment.

I beleive the warning you get with Yawcam about ftp being open to others simply refers to the fact that other users on your PC can see your ftp login and password, in much the same way they could see it from the Cumulus FTP facility, thus you wouldn't include your ftp password if yawcam is running on a public PC. That said, please let me know if I've got this wrong though!! ;) I want to keep using Yawcam to upload the images as it automatically renames previous images to webcam[+1] so that they can be used to replay the last hour or 24 hours.

This is the warning in the Yawcam help pages:

If you save the password in the ftp settings it will be saved in clear text in a file when Yawcam exits. This is not recommended if the computer has many users. Instead leave the password field empty, and you will be prompted for it when Yawcam needs it.
On the other hand the ftp protocol is not a very secure protocol by itself. (It sends the password in clear text to the host.) So, it might not be so dangerous to save the password in Yawcam anyway ;-)
It's up to you!

Ah thanks Phil you are most probably right, I wasn't sure and I obviously didn't read the bumf correctly. When I get time I'll try Yawcam as I too would like to "save" images for the replay. Thanks again.

Peter.

Thanks Peter
Down at the club on Sunday so set it up and all works fine.
I need to change the menus to point to weather.php but the original website designer didn’t leave a template so need to sort that out.
One of the webcams has gone down as well, just typical!
The watcher for you software is a bit finicky so may well move to yawcam
All the best, David

Glad it all worked OK David.

Cheers, Peter.

PS The links can be done easily on the fly if you have an edit facility in your FTP Client and just change the file extension from .html or .htm to .php and save.
Just remember you will have to eventually alter the originals so that any further uploads are correct otherwise you will need to update again. I use Freeway as my web site software and sometimes you tweek the uploaded files and then over write them by uploading new stuff!!
