Hi
Stumbled across Cumulus that a friend was using. Im a long term user of WeatherDisplay software and am surprised as to how similar the 2 products are in their data /setup etc, is though I must admit Cumulus has better graphics. are the 2 products related in any way.

I'm very surprised to hear someone say that Cumulus and WD are at all similar. They're both written using Delphi (well, I think WD is written using Delphi, Cumulus certainly is), but other than that, there's no connection at all.

I'm not sure I see the similarities. Certainly they both present similar data (but don't all system as we all want similar things).
I've never used WD but the look really put me off when I was in the market for something-- WD Live looks relatively 'now' but the core system seems quite haphazard. It's got a nice list of features; some of them really need to be removed though as the technology is dead.
Anyway, competition is good

They have one major similarity - both support the Fine Offset series of stations. But in appearance, functionality and ease of use, they are wholly dissimilar.
I used WD for over a year, and abandoned it for Cumulus because the latter is superior in all of the areas of difference. Support is better too, although this was quite strong with WD.
The only thing I regret about leaving WD is the lack of a simple means to migrate the data to Cumulus . . . . . .

Thanks for the replys, I am interrested in giving Cumulus a go, as I am becomming a bit frustrated with WD, I was wondering as to how easy it would be to convert my many years of WD data over to Cumulus. simonvfr mentioned that this was not that simple

No-one's written a converter. I did start to have a look at it myself a while back, when someone asked about it, but it seemed impossible to find a description of the data files that WD produces, or the specification of their contents.

I run both WD and Cumulus. I have no issues with either one. Plus you can not compare the two in my opinion. I have used WD for over 4 years now and have used Cumulus for a year and a half. The support is great for both programs. I have no issues with the author's of either program. Remember this is just my opinion.

Yes I run both programs too, I like both. The biggest difference is that Cumulus is nice and simple to configure, and easy to use, but I can't say the same for WD...
