New high temperature record for me at 34.2 today, high heat index of 40.0. We had our Optimist Junior Golf tournament today and 3 boys had to quit after 9 holes, and one girl nearly passed out but was able to finish.

Not something my system actually records but this must be a record for this area for several years. The rate of temperature rise was 4C/hour between 8 and 9 and still 3C/h between 9 and 10:30.

It was a wild and windy night here last night!
Highest Wind Gust 54.0 km/h at 6:29 AM on 10 July 2010
I see that other weather stations I monitor around here were significantly higher too.
Since midnight last night the Country Fire Services has had to attend to 72 callouts relating to trees down or storm damage.

Its good to see we didn't record any rain at the height of the wind gusts. That shows our rain gauges are securely mounted.

I can't remember where your thermo sensor is sited, but mine is about 1.3m over lawn. So if yours is higher than that there will be a difference

Open areas of our lawn were crunchy with frost this morning. By the way - Metservice forecast 0 for Auckland tonight - most unusual for them to forecast 0.

Yes my temperature sensor would read higher being up under the eves on the 2nd storey. Showed 2.2 minimum this morning but there was frost on south & sw side of the roof. Probably getting some heat from the house as well.
