There's always a chance it was heavier down my end of the street. Shelly Park (east side of Howick) had considerably less, so a general decrease in rain moving from west Howick to east.Super-T wrote:Dave
I show 27mm at 11:39pm and 50mm rainfall rate yesterday
Or, the FO rain gauge may have suffered from the heavy rain splashing off?

Our airport in Darwin, since 1st Nov, for the current wet season, has just passed the all time record of 2.5m.

Re: New Record? Post here.
Well, I'm excited
New record for rainfall in a day today. Currently 68.8mm and it is still raining (17:50) with over 6 hours to go before midnight.
But, best of all, the flashing light in my menu alerting visitors to the new record is working, as is the the light next to the new record.
Edit
***
Final total rain for 8th March 2011 was 82.6mm.
For some of you, that may not seem a big deal, but for my location it is a biggy, considering the average annual rainfall for Karoonda is approximately 400mm. Last year's total was way above average at 540.4mm.

It'll flash until the records light is clicked on in Cumulus. Mine is flashing to at the moment.

Re: New Record? Post here.
The flashing light will remain until I click the Cumulus flashing light in cumulus itself. I have not clicked the Cumulus alert purposely so that the web page flashing light remains visible. It should remain for the rest of today (9th March) until 6pm, when my system is set to restart.
I borrowed the concept from another site in the UK (sorry, can't remember who
). In the menu, I set up an image which is transparent so that when no new record exists, it appears that no image exists. I may change my Records page so that a flashing light appears for new records but no image is visible for old records.
Apologies if this is "off topic".

Well done Bob! That's over 15% of your annual rainfall in 1 day! And I saw your flashing light!tjaliwalpa wrote: Final total rain for 8th March 2011 was 82.6mm.

Considering we have made over (and still going) 2500mm, 15% would be over 375mm!! We have broken the wet season record, the 3 day record and the 24hr record. I had rain for over 55 hours straight

Re: New Record? Post here.
New record of highest daily precipitation reached yesterday, March 12, with 91.0 mm. Previous one was 87.8 mm on May 10, 2008. In our area this is an exceptional amount of rain for a single day in any case, but it's even more remarkable for a day of March, which is usually among the driest months in the year here.
Just to give you an idea, the Airport of Reus lies only 4 km away from my station, and I have checked its weather database for the last 50 years (since 1961) finding that, during all this time, the highest amount of rain collected in a day of March was only 55 mm in 1969!
So far, we have already collected 118.4 mm this month, which is already more than 3 times the average precipitation in March, but the forecast is to have more rain within the coming two days, so...

Re: New Record? Post here.
Downpours are usually very localised. My wettest day was 52.3mm of which 28mm fell in 1 hour. 4 miles away another Cumulus user logged 17mm for the day.
You're probably getting a lot of the UK's rain. I've only recorded 2.5mm for March but we did get 6mm overnight.

The station at bunbury airport has lots of days below 30, some even 26. http://www.weatherzone.com.au/station.j ... 65&list=ds
There must be quite a bit of radiation coming through the little stevenson screen. This happens to mine so i multiply the temperatures to 0.97% (thanks to cumulus
