Wow that is some rain! Especially between 09:05 and 09:10. Did you have any local flash flooding?

No nothing serious and just "wow" posts on local Facebooks. Neighbourhood storm-water-mangement pond did get some good flow but drainage, terrain and soil is quite absorbent this time of year. My webcam has 1-minute pics and this is one at 9:10. For those who want to look at more I have zipped and attached.

Hi all

We just had a fierce summer thunder storm in Jersey much lightening and thunder and torrential rain. At one point the instantaneous rain rate went to 221mm/hr. In about 10 mins we had 10mm rain and in air temperature dropped from 21.2c at 15:47 to 16.6c at 16:47.

My monthly rain record to 15 July of 36.8mm from 2014 has been beaten today with a total rain to date of 47.2mm. There I thought that summer was a time of sun and warmer temperatures.

It is interesting that Paul in Canada is having similarly wet conditions.

My neighbourhood is small... but just outside of Komoka village in the County of Middlesex and about 3 km from and nearby City of London boundary... https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/london/t ... -1.7263719

First time I’ve seen a street named after me. :D

It has been somewhat wet in Jersey in the last 24hrs.
I recorded an all time record of hourly rainfall at 43mm at 20:14;
a second highest daily rain 51mm;
and a third highest high rain rate of 142.2mm/hr at 19:41 all on 7 September.

What more it is still raining and in the last 24 hrs I recorded 61.6mm and is still due to continue.

Andy, Wow! :o That easily beats my 1 hour record of 1.2” 8 years ago. And that was horrendous so I can’t imagine what it was like for you.

All caused by a cut-off low in the upper atmosphere where the jet stream rotated back on itself. It had nothing to move it. Met Office described it well last week in their YT channel. Well worth watching.

It’s still over the country today and only moving slowly NE.
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

While sunshine hours are not on the Records tabs, I am going to say that we have a record so far this month - 138 hrs sunshine in 14 days of September.
https://www.komokaweather.com/cumulusmx ... m#sunhours
and very noticeable in the Sunshine tab https://www.komokaweather.com/cumulusmx ... hp?lang=en

But leaves are already turning so will be a very colourful fall, be it an early one.

Enjoy,
Paul

Not an all time record, but total rainfall today at my station is 62.8 mm. 3rd place in 10 years. It's 19:24 (7:24 PM) so it may become higher.
It seems that the area where I live had the rain-jackpot today. See the blue spot in the north western part.

I'm glad I don't live there. Our sewage systems can't handle that amount of water. 😮
I hope everyone stayed safe.
Here in the city, some flash floods appeared yesterday.

Well September is going out with a bang.

A Cumulus MX alarm has been triggered.
A new all-time record has been set.
Last message: Highest monthly rainfall = 7.207

And still a day and a bit to go!!

Not an all-time record but a monthly one and the second wettest day in the 15 years my station has been running.

In 5,623 days (15+ years) of recording weather in Cheadle Hulme rainfall exceeding 1" in a single day has only occured on 21 occasions. So despite this area's reputation for rain, very wet days are rare.

Yesterday was one of those days with the second highest daily rainfall in over 15 years being recorded.

A total of 1.9" (48mm) has only been beaten by the 2.06" that fell on 12 August 2010.

Hopefully it will be a long time before these records are added to again.
