There was quite a lot of flooding, the likes of which had not been seen before. :o

RAIN RECORD 10-08-20.PNG
That’s 14.6”/hr. Crikey! My record is 10.29”/hr also in August but back in 2014. More like World’s End than Bourne End. :D

Had it carried on for much longer at that rate it would have been World's End !

A new maximum temperature for September for this station. 28.7C. Not bad for 53.5 degrees north!

Hi Ray,
I had noticed the quite high temp on other UK sites. Nice heat wave...
Sadly I haven't had a new all-time record this year at all, well other than High Humidex of 40.6° ;)

Enjoy,
Paul

Hi Paul,

My garden is quite sheltered so would have been warmer than Mark's down in Wilmslow, 4 miles away.

I've had 4 all-time records broken so far in 2020...

Highest Dew Point 23.2C 12 August
Longest Wet Period 23 days to 29 Feb
HIghest Wind Gust 65mph on 9 Feb
Highest Pressure 1048.4hPa on 20 Jan.

I'm not sure what Humidex is so I looked it up. Yuck! 40 is described as Great Discomfort". Not nice at all. :o
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

15 September I had a 30.4 degrees at 53,2 degrees North at 17h15. That is pretty extreme.
At the same time in the South of the Netherlands a 35.2 degrees was measured. Which had never occurred since start of measurement (120 years)

Ah but you’re on continental Europe. Warm air to the British Isles has to cross water which inevitably cools it in summer and warms it in winter. Being an island has more than one advantage. :D

Sure, that's why the Brits do all they can to increase the distance

Broken my daily rain record for a second time in 5 weeks. 44.6mm fell in just over 8 hours.

Another 50mm to come throughout tomorrow.
