Andy, the next couple of weeks could feature little rain. With a high over Scandinavia winds will be coming from the NE. Cold, dry and sunny. Makes a refreshing change. :D

Mark, if you check rainfall to date for ISTOCKPO4 (me) and IWILMS14 (the Handforth station with a new Davis VP2) try to adjust your rainfall by +30% and see how close you get to our stations. Annoyingly WU don’t have an annual option available so you’ll need to view each month.

My total for 2023 to date is 42.08” or 1069mm. As you’re only 4 miles from me the annual rainfall should be very similar.
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

48.29” (1227mm) here in Cheshire making it the wettest year by far since I started in 2009. Around 150% of that expected. Previous wettest was 40.1” back in 2012. But only two days when >1” was recorded.

I recorded 943.2 mm in Gorey Jersey which is 95 mm above the long term average but my highest recording was 1,080 mm in 2014.

The temperature average for December was 3.1 C above the long term average for December and the annual average temperature was 2.3 C above the long term average for the year.

Recorded 45.35 in/1,151 mm for 2023 here in NE Ohio. Not the wettest and complicated by lake effect snow, but still quite damp!

Three all-time records in 2023:
04/01 Highest 24 hour rain 68.0 mm
05/18 Lowest humidity 4%
06/10 Longest dry period 21 days.
and likely worst air quality in June when the northern wildfires imposed upon us.

and three December records
12/09 Highest minimum temp 8.4°C
12/27 High 24 hour rain 31.8 mm
12/ Highest monthly rain 105.8 mm
and December average temperature 2.8°C compared to 15 year average -0.5°C

January 1, 2024 a clear sky, no snow on the ground, green grass, and glad to enjoy it and not needing to recover...

Enjoy,
Paul
