Backup Data Maplins N96GY Help

Post by hermitage777 »

Good afternoon. I am new to the forum and would like your help please.
I bought my wife the Maplins Weather station for Christmas (no, she loved it, really!) and then discovered the great Cululus software.

The weather station onboard memory seems to be full. Is there some way I can download the data from the weather station and then retrieve it later? I have about 3 months data on the unit and I fear the existing data may be overwritten.

I would really like to solve this issue but I am not very "techy" so please be gentle with me.

Many thanks

Kind regards

Chris

If you've been running Cumulus, then it will have the data stored anyway. Or have you only just started using Cumulus and you want to get the 'historical' data from before you were using Cumulus? If so, you need to edit the today.ini file to set the timestamp line back to the date and time that you want to download from. Do the edit while Cumulus is not running, and when it starts up it will download the data - this will take quite some time. Note that you may end up with duplicate data, as it will just add the new data on to any that you already have in Cumulus.

Hey Steve.

I have used Cumulus from the begining.

Will the data be saved even when the unit's memory is full?

I tend to connect the unit to my pc once or twice a week.

I really appreciate your taking the time to help me.

Kind regards

The station has a cyclic buffer, so when it's "full", it automatically starts reusing the oldest entries. But Cumulus will have already downloaded those entries, assuming you run Cumulus often enough (about once a fortnight at a 5-minute logger interval, correspondingly longer for longer logger intervals).

Hi Chris.

Have you thought about running the Easy Weather software AS WELL ?

Just dont try both at the same time :)

I run EW every month end and EXPORT the data to a set of Backup files.

There were some features in EW that Cumulus didnt have but thats no longer the case but if youre wife is a sad nerd like me she may well enjoy playing with the data in Excell or whu !

ps. not been to the IOW since 1957
