Finally we've had some good rain, 6mm since midnight, but it looks like that's all we're going to get today.
The last rain we had was 20 Nov last year (less than 1mm) that's over 120 days by my calculations.

Yes, we've had summertime restrictions for a few years now. We're allowed to water the gardens on two days per week between 6pm and 9am. The days are based on the last digital of our house number (see http://www.watercorporation.com.au/R/re ... _south.cfmhills wrote:Do you currently have water restrictions in place over there?
The Water Corp have announced a permanent winter sprinkler ban from June 1 to August 31 (that's our winter for those in the Northern Hemisphere

Could use some rain over here in the north of NZ!
Auckland Airport figures are 5mm rain total for February, 4mm so far for March.
This sort of persistent dry is unprecedented here...the average annual is around 1100mm at the airport!

bugga, will that affect your electricity generation if there's not enough water for your hydroelectricity plants, or are they mainly on the south island?

Just had another 6mm, total 12mm today.

As soon as I read about that on the news I checked out your website. Was it as severe once it got down to you?

No, fortunately by the time it got down to us (170kms south of Perth) all we got was 6mm of rain and a terrific thunderstorm. Looks like Perth really copped it though.hills wrote:As soon as I read about that on the news I checked out your website. Was it as severe once it got down to you?

There's not really a water shortage issue for most areas, it's mainly just the farmers (and the gardens!) who are suffering...hills wrote:bugga, will that affect your electricity generation if there's not enough water for your hydroelectricity plants, or are they mainly on the south island?
Wow Ian looks like a good thunderstorm, Aussie thunderstorms are generally much more powerful than t-storms in NZ.
