Now the only problem is my transmitter has lost contact with the receiver so often I can't tell if it really works or not.
New batteries, cleaned contacts, replugged everything but still no regular contact. Maybe another dead 1081

I hate wireless! One reason I'm looking into 1-wire networking.

Very impressive, you seem to have perfected it in one step. I had previously played with adding short extensions with no improvement, but I'm now tempted to follow your lead. Cheers!

This was my vane extension - it didn't help. Worse if anything. It was polystyrene about 2mm thick.
