Windows 7 32 bit - cant close cumulus properly

Post by Gordon-Loomberah »

I've just installed Cumulus under Win 7 and find that every time I close it, the cumulus process is left running. When I start it up again, Cumulus thinks its a new day, so all the today and yesterday data is messed up in a big way. I had several restarts and deletions of files (which didnt help!) before finding the cause - the process still running. I have since deleted everything and started again, and lost the past few days of data in the process.
Can anything be done about this, or do I have to try to remember to go into task manager and kill the process each time I close cumulus.

thanks.

What build are you using? I did think that there may be problems with closing down Cumulus with the changes to the recent builds to try to stop the crash at close down, which is why I asked people to let me know if they had any problems of this kind.

Please zip and attach the diags folder.

I've included 2 cumulus.zip files, one from the recycle bin. Hopefully one of them will be of use.

VirtualVP is returning the entire contents of the logger when Cumulus just asks for the recent entries. Cumulus has to sift through all of the crap and find the entries it's actually interested in. This all gets logged. The logger thread runs in the background and takes some time to catch up. If you close Cumulus shortly after starting it, the logger thread won't have finished. I have changed Cumulus so that it waits for all of the threads to terminate before closing. Hence Cumulus can still be running sometimes, after the main window has closed. Actually, I think this situation with the logger thread existed before the recent changes anyway, a number of people have reported it in the forum.

I will see if I can put up a message box to show that Cumulus is still closing.

Hmm, I wonder if this is related to the problem of Weatherlink failing to produce any output of files for the net (or a local folder) automatically. It seems to fail on get high/low data... I suspect some sort of time out. My reason for that thought is that sometimes when I try to get the bulletin it fails with a message of no response form the station and its given up waiting.

I'm a Windows 7 32bit user and do not normally have any closing down problems, except for the very ocassional eror message.
