Data log interval
What effect, if any, will happen if cumulus is set to a 1 minute data log interval but the Vantage Pro2 console is set to log every 5 minutes?
How do you change the data logging interval on the Vantage Pro2 console to 1 minute to match the Cumulus settings?

Re: Data log interval
I believe its easiest to change it in Weatherlink/setup/archive interval.

Refresh my memory but how do you go about performing these steps?

Re: Data log interval
When you start Cumulus, sometimes the VP2 will send the entire contents of the archive instead of just the most recent entries which Cumulus asked for. This slows down the start up considerably and means that Cumulus has to sift through all of the entries to find the ones it actually asked for.THX wrote:What effect, if any, will happen if cumulus is set to a 1 minute data log interval but the Vantage Pro2 console is set to log every 5 minutes?
You also have the slightly odd situation where data in the Cumulus logs is at different intervals depending on whether it was 'live' or from the logger.
As Peter said, in Weatherlink, use "Set Archive Interval" from the setup menu. How do you change the data logging interval on the Vantage Pro2 console to 1 minute to match the Cumulus settings?

Re: Data log interval
I must be losing it. In the Weatherlink setup I can find nowhere where it mentions setting this variable:

That's just the 'getting started' guide. I think they intend the Help to be used for the details.THX wrote:I must be losing it. In the Weatherlink setup I can find nowhere where it mentions setting this variable:

Re: Data log interval
Interesting.
I've never used the WeatherLink software. I just went straight to using Cumulus.
Which begs the question what is the default data logging interval setup to be?

Re: Data log interval
I'm not sure, actually. I think it's 30 minutes. As you've never run WL, yours will presumably be using the default, so if you have data in Cumulus which came from the logger, you'll be able to see what the interval is from that.THX wrote:Which begs the question what is the default data logging interval setup to be?

Re: Data log interval
I seem to recall when i first installed the data logger into my VP2 console it asked me a bunch of questions as to the data logging rate. Is it possible to remove the battery, unplug the data logger and start over again as if I just bought it and reset the logging interval via the console this way?
How does one go about confirming the the interval based off of Cumulus data per your above quote?steve wrote:...so if you have data in Cumulus which came from the logger, you'll be able to see what the interval is from that.

Re: Data log interval
I don't remember it asking me anything other than the serial baud rate; and the manual doesn't seem to have anything about it either.THX wrote:I seem to recall when i first installed the data logger into my VP2 console it asked me a bunch of questions as to the data logging rate. Look at some data in your Cumulus monthly log files which came from the logger, and see what interval it's logged at.How does one go about confirming the the interval based off of Cumulus data per your above quote?

Re: Data log interval
Such as Jan10log.txt and Feb10log.txt? If so, it appears to be logging at 1 minute intervals:steve wrote:Look at some data in your Cumulus monthly log files which came from the logger, and see what interval it's logged at.

Does this confirm at what interval the data logger is logging at or simply the interval at which Cumulus is polling the console?

Re: Data log interval
If Cumulus was actually running at those times, it's the logging interval that you've set in Cumulus. If Cumulus wasn't actually running at those times, and hence the data was downloaded from the logger when Cumulus started, it's the console logging interval.THX wrote:Does this confirm at what interval the data logger is logging at or simply the interval at which Cumulus is polling the console?

Re: Data log interval
Ok, now I know why I'm so confused.
When I ordered my Davis Instruments 6510SER from AmbientWeather no software came with the console or data logger. I've looked everywhere and simply cannot find it.
What recourse do I have if any at this point?

Re: Data log interval
The 6510SER is the datalogger for Serial connections. It comes with Weather Link.
That is not an item number for the Weather Station itself and does not include a console. Should have been a fairly small package, with the data logger and the CD.

You can download the latest version of the Weatherlink software here: http://www.davisnet.com/support/weather ... _sftwr.asp
I'm pretty sure that although it says it's an update, it's actually the full thing.
