think i have broken my Wh1090 which was brought for me for xmas all has been fine for some reason i decided to change the batteries in the outdoor sensor, as the sensor is about 5and half foot up i couldnt see what i was doing properly and i inserted the batteries incorrectly after realising what i must have done i changed the batteries round the correct way. im not suprised to say that now i have no feed from the outdoor sensors. is it possible to buy a spare/replace ment sensor or am i looking at a complete new set up any help appreciated.

Dont want to tell the missus i have broke my xmas pressie.

I doubt it will be broken!

Take the batteries out of the console and pop them back in. If that fails try re-inserting the batteries in the transmitter...When you pop the batteries in it should flash red for a second on the transmitter so this will tell you it is working

have tried both the indoors base unit is powered by mains cable and or usb have unplugged have also taken batteries out of outdoor sensor whilst indoor lcd is off and reinserted still no joy no lcd light on the outside unit showing, think its definatley had it.

Have you checked that the new batteries are in fact alright? Occasionally you can get dud ones. Also, check that there is no corrosion on the battery contacts on the transmitter unit. Bad battery connections are a frequent cause of problems with battery powered equipment.

Hypothetically if your transmitter is duff, you could buy another complete unit and I'm sure you could sell the unwanted components on here.

I'd take the transmitter back to where it was bought and complain that it died.

Well i have had some good news sort of have found a supplier who can provide me with a replacement transmitter for £25 plus vat and postage sadly have to wait for the slow boat from china.

Seriously - test those new batteries and clean up the contacts. Then go through the correct procedure for initialising the unit. You will find them in the manual.

I doubt it died. Most stuff is protected against reverse polarity connection these days. Also, I'm somewhat surprised that you needed to replace batteries in a unit that is only six weeks old.

sadly its dead no light on the led when inserting batteries have tried different batteries, etc

Obviously that transmitter unit unfortunately isn't protected against 'reverse polarity'

Some units that run on low volts (3V in this case) can't run on much lower voltage, and putting a diode in the supply line to protect against this eventuality would loose 0.6V so they don't bother.
