Editing the today.ini file to correct wrong readings

Hi,
I've been modifying my sensor installation (more on that later) but forgot to disconnect the rainfall sensor.
Before I started the work we had 1.2mm rain today. It now shows 11.7mm and a rate of 4.8mm in the last hour. My today.ini file shows the following figures. Can someone advise me what the correct figure is to reset this to match the actual rain fall
Code: Select all
[Rain]
High=43.2000007629395
HTime=16:38
Start=56.7000007629395
Yesterday=2.70000076293945
Thanks

You need to get rid of 11.7-1.2=10.5 mm, so add 10.5 to the Start figure: 56.7+10.5=67.2
You could also edit the high rate figure and time, if you know what they should be (from a backup from earlier today?). Or just set to zero if unsure. You may also have some tidying up of the 'today so far' and rain rates in feb10log.txt to do.
Was the FAQ entry no help? Any suggestions for improving it?

Steve,
Thanks for the help.
To be honest I searched the wilki, but was a little unsure if I found the right section and just how much (or what ) to take or add to what to resolve this.
Plus I knew that I would get a fast response from you, Dave or one of the other guys here

Steve, have been scouring the wiki for the details of where Cumulus gets the current rainfall rate. Everything else seems OK now, but this is showing 11mm/hr

For Fine Offset stations, it calculates it based on the amount of rain that it thinks has fallen in the previous 5 minutes.

Uhmmm... well it's not raining at the moment, and I finished working on the sensors well over an hour ago.. wonder why it thinks it's rained 11.7mm in the past hour

In the last hour? Are you talking about the rate or the 'last hour'?

Steve, it was displaying the rainfall rate in the last hour - now zero

Right - it would have been reading the counter from the log file and comparing it with the current value.
