Dayfile.txt question

Does everyone just let this file grow and grow? I mean it begins when you first start Cumulus and is added to each day. Could you rename it "dayfile2009" then begin a new one for this year "dayfile"? Just thinking it becomes very large each year(365 lines) Any thoughts?

Cumulus won't work properly if you rename it (or any of its files). I have three and a half years data in my current dayfile.txt, and it's only 84kb.

It's not really that big -- I have 525 lines and it is only 50Kb, so really tiny in fact

You could start to prune it, but Cumulus does use it to build some of the graphs (the Daily Max, Min temp I think) so you would need to leave sufficient data going back a few weeks for that graph.

It is the Monthly log files that are relatively 'large' (compared to the dayfile) -- maybe 240k per month, which again is really tiny by today's storage standards.

I prefer to keep all the data as you never know when you might want to analyse it
