Post by gabrielle »

I'm afraid I don't know much about this - I just followed the specification, but the xAP protocol uses a broadcast mechanism - http://www.xapautomation.org/index.php? ... definition. So as far as Cumulus is concerned, there is no CSV file involved, it just broadcasts messages periodically. What is supposed to be contained in the CSV file?

a text file with information, seperated with commas

comma-separated values (CSV) storage of data structured in a table of lists form,Each line in the CSV file corresponds to a row in the table.

Voice commands to control devices, TTS is used in which MS-Speech generates a PC voice to speek your specified text. I would ask 'whats the weather like today', the computer then looks to the CSV file output and reads that data aloud. Ambient's Virtual Weather for instance is able to take data from {all but my type WS1080 } a personal weather station and translate it to a CVS file which is then read outloud.

This is nothing to do with the xAP protocol. You can generate files with weather data in them (CSV, or any other format) by creating a file with web tags and getting Cumulus to process it by listing it on the file tab of the internet settings screen. If you don't tick the 'ftp' box, the file will be created locally in a file whose name is specified in the 'remote filename' box.
