Using comparison of day length with tomorrow on website

We really like this feature, although I guess it won't be so amusing when the days shorten. I would like to add it to our web pages and could just use the web tag as is and reformat the almanac to add it in, although that's all nicely balanced at the moment. But I would prefer to add it in more of a commentary 'Tomorrow will be x mins y secs longer/shorter than today'. So I immediately move outside what I know..... I suppose I need some form of script to test whether the field contains a plus or a minus then use the word shorter or longer accordingly.

Can anyone provide any pointers? :?
