Rain Sensor questions

Post by aaardvaark »

I'm attemtping to check and fix the accuracy of my rain gauge. There's plenty of info here on that and I will follow up when I get a manual gauge and some rain to play with.

In the meantime, this had me confused...

This surprises me a lot and changes how I would handle repairs are re-arrangements of the sensor. How does this work please? It's the total since when? What resets it?

And what's the consequence of resetting it manually? Is the absolute reading significant or just the changes from reading to reading? It seems a strange way to run it and I can't see the advantage but can see some disadvantages.

Off to buy a manual rain gauge and some wind and spider blocking bits.

Cheers

I don't think anyone knows. I assume it keeps going up until it wraps around to zero.

The absolute value doesn't have any meaning to Cumulus - it just needs a counter that increments when the bucket tips. If you reset it manually, Cumulus tries to recognise that, and attempts to handle it.
