Linux Data Migration

From Cumulus MX version 3 build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since, and has recently released Cumulus MX version 4. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Linux Data Migration

Post by K4HNT »

I am planning a move from Windows to Debian 12. I have researched the different posts and I think I have a handle on prerequisites and installing MX but what I haven't seen (and may not be possible) is there a way to migrate the data from my windows installation to the Linux install so I don't lose the historical data collected? I searched but haven't run across anything that says it is possible or how to do it.

Thanks,
Terry

I did this some time ago and had no issues with my CMX data. I just copied it over. The only thing to be aware of is that in text files the line endings are different CR/LF in Windows and LF in Linux, but this will not affect CMX but if you have other programs/scripts it could affect them. One which does have issues currently is WXSim weather forecasting program if used.

Thanks Stuart,

I will proceed with planning and give it a go. At this point I only run Cumulus, I haven't added any other utilities to it yet but may later. I don't have but about 6 months of data so I may just let it start over and avoid issues later after I have forgotten about the line terminators :D

Thanks Again,
Terry
