I am not from the UK (East-NL myself) but yes, the ECMWF model - usually the best - has a very windy Friday prediction for N-England and Scotland.
NL is to the east of this bad weather but will get some part of it. Norway's coast will be next. I think @sutne will be battered in Kronstad.

Met Office Amber warnings out for Amber - Wind
Storm Éowyn is expected to bring very strong winds and widespread disruption on Friday
Friday 24 January
Central, Tayside & Fife, East Midlands, Grampian, Highlands & Eilean Siar, North East England, North West England, Northern Ireland, SW Scotland, Lothian Borders, Strathclyde, Wales, Yorkshire & Humber

In Somerset we have Yellow Warnings for Rain and Wind on Friday. Wind speeds are usually not as bad as they say ( Storm Darragh was exceptional and we had a lot of trees down here in Burnham-on-Sea), but rain is usually correct and the Levels are coping(just!!).

Well, I am in Oslo at the moment, but will meet this when taking the train back on saturday. Forecast for Rjoanddalen is 40 cm snowfall, I should have had my LDS01.

Tony, that video was well done and informative.

Here in Cheshire we’re just outside the amber area but it will still be very windy. My highest gust of 65mph was recorded when a squall line passed through almost five years ago.

Winds this time will be more sustained and with my anemometer 10 metres up attached to the chimney it’s ideally placed. Fourteen hours to go to the highest gusts.

According to Ogimet, Thomastown (Wales) already measured a gust of 174.2 km/h. :o

doubtful, the storm is only hitting the edge of Ireland now.

here is the hourly stats:

as you see either side of one high gust its normal. I would guess this is erroneous data

There was some tornadic activity in some places today as an active front passed through, so I wouldn't dismiss it without further analysis

However, it wasn't part of Eowyn which is only just starting to impact western Ireland.

Not sure if Ian/Stewarton participates in this thread but I like the signature of the start of Éowyn there: very low pressure and rain:
(EDIT: Ah yes, he's in)

Eire record gust of 99 knots (114 mph, 51 m/s) at Mace Head 0500. The station stopped reporting then (power/Comms issue?) so once it is back online we may see higher values recorded around that time.

Lowest NI pressure (949 hPa) since at least 1900 (the year).

Plenty of individual station gust records broken in NI in the past 3 hours.
