Hi Steve,
Is it possible to add an option in cumulus install process to just upgrade to preserve the modified web files?
(i mean template files, weatherstyle.css, dashboard.js ....)
Thanks

Well, yes, it's possible... I'd have to learn how to use the installer, though, I'm not doing anything 'clever' with it at the moment.

Re: Cumulus setup option
It looks like this is fairly easy to do, by making the HTML templates into an optional 'component'. I propose to only include the template files in the option, as the other files live on your web site anyway, so if you have your own versions, it doesn't matter if Cumulus overwrites them. It's only the template files which have to be kept in the Cumulus web folder.
Of course, anyone choosing the option to not install the templates won't get to see any changes that might have been made.

I've made the installer put a copy of the templates into a web\originals folder, even if the option to not install into the web folder is chosen.steve wrote:Of course, anyone choosing the option to not install the templates won't get to see any changes that might have been made.

Sort of a nice idea, but .......
Whilst you will preseverse you personal templates, you also don't discover any (perhaps) better style / layout that may have been introduced (albiet rarely)
I'm not sure what a happy comprise might be, I still think the philosphy of keeping a COPY of your own templates in a 'safe' area is best.
