New install - HTTP (Ecowitt) Settings - HP2551

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

New install - HTTP (Ecowitt) Settings - HP2551

Post by Vinnie »

Hi,

I have a Ecowitt HP2551 and am trying to connect to a Win 7 PC.

I did have an older weather station that conected to an earlier version of CMX through the USB serial and all worked fine.

I installed the latest version of .net for Win7, and used CMX 3.28.6.

What is so frustrating is that the setup has worked a couple of times and then on reboot, failed.

I have spents hours changing the sever, rebooting CMX, networks and have made sure 8998 is allowed through the firewall.

My PC running CMX is 192.168.4.2
HP2551 is 192.168.4.1

Can anyone spot any silly mistakes in the log file please?

Thanks

It is hard to spot anything from the log file, you probably have to turn on Debug logging.

But are you sure about the ip-adresses?
192.168.4.1 would normally be the address of the router.

Doesn't appear to be finding the HP2551.

You should have Station Settings > General Settings > Ecowitt & Clones , Http Custom Sender in the two boxes.

Then set up the Custom Sender on the HP2551 Custom Sender as follows

Weather Server Setup > open customised settings are

Enable
Same as Ecowitt
IP address 192.168.4.1
8998
8 second
/station/ecowitt

It should then pick up the hp2551

Hi,

Thanks for the replies.

As the PC is not connected to the internet, I installed a WiFi dongle in the PC.

The IP adress of the PC is 192.168.4.2, and the gateway which the weather station acts as is 192.168.4.1.

I can confirm I can connect to the weather station through a browser with 192.168.4.1, this opens up the weather station config page.

In that that case the IP address in my previous answer should be 192.168.4.2
