CumulusMX B4070 not reading logger history [FIXED]

From Cumulus MX version 3 build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since, and has recently released Cumulus MX version 4. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

CumulusMX B4070 not reading logger history [FIXED]

Post by pacificblue03 »

The latest update is causing problems, if i decide to stop cumulus for say 10 minutes, the data logger is set to 1 minute ... when i re start cumulusmx the log does not download so there are "gaps" in my data which is represented on the charts too... how do i fix this? i have tried a brand new install and just importing my data to no avail......

Previously say i was without power then restart cumulus it would say downloading data and it would all be there... its not doing this anymore.

Hopefully there is a way to re download the missing data too..

Data "gap" example below:

Please post a MXDiags .txt file so we can see what is going on otherwise we are just guessing.

Also, no errors show, but usually it would say that it read the last log entry...

Suggest you switch on Debug Logging and Data Logging in Program Settings > Logging Options, close MX and leave it 10 minutes as per your first post and the start MX again and allow it to run for 5 minutes and then post the resulting MXDiags file (i.e. the latest file) which should indicate what is going on.

OK thanks, well there is nothing immediately obvious to me as all seems OK, but then I am not a Davis station user. I suggest you wait until Mark or PaulMy come online and see if they have any suggestions as to what is going on.

I am not aware of anybody else reporting this problem with 4070 and we have quite a few Davis users and I am sure they would have reported it if they had a problem.

Understood, i dont know if it is specifically this build. my MX runs on a NUC pc and usually is up 24x7 .. wild weather causing some power outages & thats why a few times i had to restart mx, but the log data isnt being read. On my weatherlink, the data that is missing is there.

I just wanted to say i have FIXED my issue.

i have NEVER modified cumulus.ini ever. Apparently this line gave me trouble after searching the entire wikki & someone in reddit had my problem!

Image

To fix this, in cumulus.ini i had to change line under [station]
UseDataLogger=0

To
UseDataLogger=1

And as you can see it is now working as it should! thank god...

Please leave this up if anyone else has this problem, its a easy but hidden fix :)

This is a user-defined setting. Using the admin interface, go to the Settings -> Station Settings -> Common Options -> Advanced Options menu and you can see the "Use data logger" setting.

It's best not to edit Cumulus.ini - that is what the settings screens in the interface are for.

Hmm, on my side, there is no such option. This was something i was looking for to see if it was something i changed.. but i shut CumulusMX for 10 mins then re start and it is still downloading archive data so it 100% is working now

If you scroll down some lines you should see Use the logger on B4070 (unless you are using a different interface):

You're probably looking at a cached version of the page - although I'm pretty sure the option has been there for lots of releases.

Glad you fixed it, though - great detective work.

If clearing the cache does not show up that option then I'd suggest reinstalling the update in case there is more than one file wrong.
