Climate charts

Hans,
Have You considered supplementing Cutils with additional climate charts in the new year 2025? It occurred to me that it would be nice to have such a collective climatogram for station data. It is a clear and readable chart. Many of us already have long measurement series, so I hope there will be supporters of such an idea here

.

Mmm... From far away (not behind the computer) I would say CUtils already offers this info though not rain and temp combined in one chart. I don't really see the added value of this chart. What point should it make?

Well... a climatogram is a basic graph that shows the climate of a given place. Even children in primary school learn from it how to recognize the characteristics of a given climate (temperate, Mediterranean, etc.). It is also very simple and legible. Additionally, many state stations have such graphic climate studies. Comparing your own data with a nearby official station seems easier then.
This is just a loose suggestion to create a comprehensive graph from all the years of measurement.

Well, I fully agree with the usefulness of such charts but you do not explain why your example is a plus when compared to what CUtils already has to offer

And in addition, I think that your chart sort of implies a relation between temperature and rainfall which i think should not be suggested.
What is missing in Cutils when you have charts like
this and
this?
In short: I don't think an addition or modification is required unless ....

I agree with Hans. I think CumuluItils has better presentations than the one suggested.
And is a chart showing average temperature and monthly rain a Climate chart?
I thought climate is more complex than this. Looks like something a travel agency would present.

I agree that most likely the climatogram is not what a weather enthusiast wants to see. But I do see a valid ”use case for normal people”, who just wants answer to a question ”is it hot or cold and rainy or dry” eg. when looking for a vacation destination months before the trip. In that specific mindset I would find it quite awkward to jump between two different charts for rain and temp. But regardless of this I do not have a strong opinion if it is worth the effort.

@sutne, @SamiS thanks for the reactions and @SamiS thanks for the clarification, I did not know that.
I'll think it all over again when back but @Dador, I'm still not a great fan of the chart.
Anyway, I'll give it another thought and comeback to this.

Thx Hans for the WIKI links.
I used the websites and maps referenced there to produce historic climate charts for a nearby city of my PWS,
and put them together into a (static) climate charts webpage:

I can compare the averages over the last 10 years with my median data from my PWS:

@Leo: thanks for that.
@all:
I have thought it over and will not include the requested chart of Dador in the standard website nor as a module for the following reasons:
- The information is already in the Graphs module and available in the default website or as module;
- There can be many requests for additional charts. CUtils website may become more crowded than I intended it to be.
- Leo has created/modified many procedures which he publishes here and no doubt will be pleased if you use those. Those integrate well with CUtils so you are invited to ask him. If anything will be required in CUtils - e.g. a specific thread to publish procedures/user reports - everything can be considered.
Hope this helps.
