Rain counter reset confirmed

Hello.
I switched from installing CumulusMX from Win 10 to Rpi3+. Everything went fine except for one error in the log.
The previous build was 3, now I'm on the last 4.
The error in the log looks like this:

Rain counter reset confirmed: RaindayStart = 1234.4, Raincounter = 617.2

I don't know how to get rid of it.
Thank you for any info.

The rain counter comes from your station. Without logs with debug and data logging, I would say previously it was sending 1234.4mm and now it is sending 617.2mm.

The message tells you Cumulus has detected this change and will compensate for it so the total in Cumulus should remain correct.

Thank you.

In the today.ini file I have this:

Code: Select all

[Rain]
High=0
HTime=2024-12-28T00:00:00
HourlyHigh=0
HHourlyTime=2024-12-28T00:00:00
High24h=0
High24hTime=2024-12-28T00:00:00
Start=1234.4000000000001
Yesterday=0
LastTip=2024-12-26 09:49
ConsecutiveRainDays=0
ConsecutiveDryDays=1
RG11Today=0
Midnight=617.20000000000005
Last=617.20000000000005
617,2 is the annual total - according to the records, this is the correct number.

The today.ini file is created continuously on the day according to the station data or from some calculation done by CumulusMX?

One more addition.
In the old installation today.ini looks like this.

Code: Select all

[Rain]
High=0
HTime=00:00
HourlyHigh=0
HHourlyTime=00:00
High24h=0
High24hTime=00:00
Start=617.20000000000005
Yesterday=0
LastTip=2024-12-26 09:49
ConsecutiveRainDays=0
ConsecutiveDryDays=1
RG11Today=0

I'm unable to help with this one, but it strikes me that 617.20000000000005 X 2 = 1234.4000000000001
Can't be a coincidence. :?:

It's interesting that 617.2 x 2 is 1234.4. Perhaps you started up MX and then entered the yearly total so far. As Mark said, the total actually comes from the station, so no need to manually set it - if that is what you did

Yes, I ran MX with data from an old installation with the wrong COM port. So the data from the station was not updated.

How should I proceed now to get everything right.
Reading the data on the wiki, my understanding so far is that there is no point in editing today.ini, that it will be recalculated according to the cached data.
Thanks for more info.

I've edited it via the rain editor and it seems to be bug free.

Thank you all again and have a wonderful New Year

Dayfile.txt CumulusMX3 vs CumulusMX4

There was another error.
CumulusMX4 does not load the dayfile.txt file correctly.
My formatting is the same as in the old installation, but according to the listing there it has errors.

I found that MigrateData3to4 helps me.
But I haven't found instructions for it anywhere and will it run on Rpi?

You need to read this post - it contains essential reading for upgrading to MX version 4.
