Console 6313

Hello all,

I have just purchased a new Davis VP2 station which arrived with the new 6313 console. The problem is that, using CumulusMX, by downloading the data every 15 minutes I lose all the extremes of temperature, wind, etc. Even with a subscription level pro+ I would have data every minute, but in any case I could lose a maximum gust of wind, for example, which didn't happen with the old console+datalogger because the data was still collected every 2.5 seconds.

I wanted to know if by adding a WLL 6100 I can solve this problem or not.

I purchased a 6313 console, and I also found that it was taking a long time for the data to change.

To correct the problem I purchased a WLL 6100 which has solved the problem, CumulusMX now updates every 2.5 seconds.

You are very welcome.

I am not too sure if it will course any conflict, because I have got my 6313 console offline, and only the Wi-Fi is enabled on it.

I thought it would only be the Inside temperature and humidity that would be different. From my point of view, I didn't think it was necessary to have them both uploading the same data.

Yes, while I don't have the WLC I am pretty sure they will both work at the same time as they are independent receiving devices. Much the same as the legacy console with IPLogger and WLL which I am both using with CMX..

The 6100 WLL connects to your local network via WiFi or Ethernet, your choice in WLL settings using the Weatherlink App. It is the same way for Raspberry as for Windows.

Another question: what is the difference between 6100 and 6316?

The 6100 (WLL) is a screenless receiver from your ISS, along with inside data such as temp/hum and pressure. It regularly uploads to your Weatherlink.com. CumulusMX can receive the near-live data from the WLL through its local IPaddress in settings, and also checks WL.com through the API Key and Secret, for other data that is not in the live stream. Catch up at a CMX restart comes from the WL.com site, but only if you have a WL.com Pro account.

The 6316 is an Envoy screenless console with similar functions as the original VP2 console but no screen so no setting options, which must then be done through WeatherlinkPC program. You can add a logger to the 6316 the same as with the original VP2 console. CMX accesses the logger through its serial COMport.

Edit:
The 6313 Envoy with datalogger has the saved data locally, which CMX accesses for catchup at a restart.
The 6100 WLL has built-in logging (at a much larger capacity) but that is uploaded to WL.com so only accessible for catch-up from WL.com

That is correct, the 6313 new style console is not reachable via local, at this point in time. The 6100 WLL is reachable local for near time data.

To use the 6313 with CumulusMX you would select station type: Davis - WeatherLink Cloud (WLL/WLC) and fill in the rest of the API, etc.
CumulusMX will access Weatherlink.com for data. I don't have the 6313 so going from memory and previous discussions, I think the data to CMX would be at 1 minute interval with a WL.com Pro subscription plan.

If you want to have your Vantage Pro2 or Vantage Vue console in a location far from your computer, but you also want to have data flowing to the computer via WeatherLink, add a Weather Envoy to your system. Plug your WeatherLink data logger into the Envoy and your computer or router. The Envoy will receive transmissions from your integrated sensor suite, or from your console, and transfer it to the computer or WeatherLink.com. Now you can have your console by your bed, or in the kitchen, wherever you access it most, without having to take it back to the computer to download data.
Weather Envoy allows you to skip the console altogether and view your data on your computer with WeatherLink or online with WeatherLinkIP

That's what puts me off of going down the WLL route. My VP1 is 20 years old next year and I guess it will need replacing soon but I'm not paying to access my own data.

In reality it's even worse: even if you pay for the data, you get it every minute, very different from the 2.5 seconds (for thermometer, anemometer and rain gauge) provided for the old consoles!
