How to obtain extra sensor data from Meteobridge

From Cumulus MX version 3 build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since, and has recently released Cumulus MX version 4. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

How to obtain extra sensor data from Meteobridge

Post by SpireWeather »

I used to use Cumulus then moved to Meteotemplate in 2017, but now that MT appears to have been abandoned by the developer I am looking at moving back to Cumulus MX.

Until I have fully tested Cumulus I need to keep Meteotemplate running, which is currently powered by Meteobridge with a primary Davis Vantage Vue station and a Weatherflow Tempest as the secondary station adding solar data.

I have successfully set up Cumulus MX on my Synology NAS which is pulling data from my Meteobridge via [Local IP address]:22222 but there is no solar data, and I assume Meteobridge only passes data from the primary station.

Therefore, how do I get my solar data into Cumulus MX? I am assuming as extra sensors, maybe via a JSON Station?

Can anyone help me achieve this? Thanks in advance for any replies.

Currently MX does not support the Tempest as a secondary station for Extra Sensors.

You could use either the JSON station type and use either a file, MQTT, or HTTP input; or the HTTP (Ecowitt) station and send the data via a HTTP request in their URL encoded format.
