Davis Airlink Downloading Archive Data problems.

Hello All,
I have just bought a Davis Weatherlink console, & a Davis Airlink sensor. I've set it all up, and paid for the pro subscription.

The problem I am having is; when I close down CumulusMX software and start it up again, there is gaps in the data from the Airlink sensor.

I have attached a screen print of the Air Quality Chart, with gaps in it Also, I have attached the MXdiags Log, with Debug logging and Data logging enabled.

I hope there is a brilliant, kind soul who can help me with this problem.

Kind Regards
Mike

Hi,

But from the MXDiags it looks like you have a Davis VP2 with IP datalogger for CMX so either an original VP2 or Vue console.

Code: Select all

2024-12-06 12:22:50.731 Station type: 1 - Davis Vantage Pro2

2024-12-06 12:22:51.215 Station type = Davis
2024-12-06 12:22:51.215 LOOP2 enabled
2024-12-06 12:22:51.215 IP address = 192.168.0.103 Port = 22222
2024-12-06 12:22:51.215 periodic disconnect = 0
2024-12-06 12:22:51.216 InitTCP: Connecting to the station
2024-12-06 12:22:51.217 OpenTcpPort: TCP Logger Connect attempt 1
2024-12-06 12:22:51.247 OpenTcpPort: TCP Logger reconnected
With this station when you restart CMX it does the catch up from the datalogger. Mark will know better, but I am pretty sure the logger does not save the AirLink data so that data is not available from the logger, and not sure if CMX with Station type 1 does any download from Weatherlink.com for catch-up.

Possibly using the Station type Weatherlink Cloud (WLL/WLC) will allow for the Airlink data catch-ups, but you would loose the near life data stream that the console/logger (and the WLL as well) provides, but the WLC does not.

Enjoy,
Paul

Hello Paul,

Thank you for your reply to my message,
I have a Davis Vantage PRO2 Plus Daytime Far's with a Davis Vantage Pro 2 console with a Meteo-Pi Ethernet logger & WiFiLogger 2. They are not feeding data to Weatherlink Cloud.

Only the Weatherlink Console and Airlink are sending to the cloud.

Hi,
Ok, that is about the same as my CMX with Davis Vue/WiFiLogger. The logger saves the outside ISS and inside console data but not the separate AirLink data, so when you restart CMX after it is stopped there is no AirLink data to catch up, as your charts indicate.

The Cloud data from your WLC and Airlink is separate and would need a Station type Davis WeatherLink Cloud (WLL/WLC) setting in CMX to receive and catch up data.

Enjoy,
Paul

OK, summary.

Cumulus is connected to the VP2 station.

The AirLink has been added as a node to your WL Console.

It *should* still work, but the set-up for the Extra Sesnors setup for the AirLink should have:

This AirLink has been added as a Node to my main WLL station = disabled
WeatherLink API key = Your key
WeatherLink API secret = Your secret

Outdoor AirLink:
IP Address = The AirLink IP
Station ID = Station ID of your WLC on weatherlink.com

FORGET ALL THAT.

I forgot: Historic catch-up for the AirLink only works if you have WeatherLink Live, or use the Davis Cloud Station station type AND the AirLink has been added as a node of that station.

Otherwise it Cumulus will only capture live data from the AirLink.

Hello Mark & Paul,

Thank you very much for all the information, which I very much appreciate.

I have followed all the instructions that you have given me. I have also purchased a WeatherLink Live, and set it all up.

However, the problem I am having is still there. When I close down CumulusMX software and start it up again, there are gaps in the data from the Airlink sensor.

Do you have any ideas as to why this would be the case?

Kind regards
Mike

I'm pretty sure CMX doesn't download historical AirLink data.

I had some other issues I was dealing with a few weeks back, which meant CMX wasn't open. I had a several hour gap between data points after reopening CMX.

What station type have you selected? Station settings > General Settings > Station type: [ Weatherlink Live ] or another type

Because AirLink device can operate as a standalone, or as part of a Weatherlink Console or Weatherlink Live account at your Weatherlink.com it is important to know how yours is setup for correct settings in CumulusMX. Is your AirLink uploading to and on the same Weatherlink.com site as your Weatherlink Live?

If you can give us a link to your Weatherlink.com account (and to both if you have more than 1) we can have a look - something like https://www.weatherlink.com/bulletin/13 ... 9ea4c354b0 but yours will have different numbers and letters code after /bulletin/

It may be helpful again if you would zip and attach your latest MXDiags files from a new CumulusMX start.

Enjoy,
Paul

I've added a ToDo to implement AirLink historic catch-up - most of the code is already there, I just never got around to finishing it off!

Hi All, Happy New Year to you all.

Just A recap on my setup.

Cumulus MX station type is set to Weatherlink Live.

I have my AirLink device as part of my Weatherlink Live device.

I only have one Weatherlink.com account on a Pro subscription.
My Weatherlink.com account is https://www.weatherlink.com/bulletin/06 ... e6076b4d9f

Does the Weatherlink live, send a station forecast data to Cumulus? To me, it looks as though it doesn't, Cumulus has to do it.

When I tell Cumulus to get it from the Station, the forecast says Not available.

If I restart Cumulus with it set to Station, it would be changed to use Cumulus forecast source.

I would have thought that the Weatherlink Live device has got a barometer sensor. Therefore, it should give a display of its own, rather than through the software.

Having the reading directly from the station is more accurate, and more informative.

I have attached the MXdiags log file, for your info, just in case I haven't set it up correctly.
MXdiags.zip

Many Thanks for your help

Kind regards
Mike

The WLL does not send or generate any forecast information.

The forecast you see on weatherlink.com or in the app is a third-party forecast that Davis buy-in, localised to the location of the station. It is not available to anyone but Davis.

Hello Mark,

Since the message above, you have made five updates to Cumulus MX, without adding the AirLink historic catch-up code.

On the latest Cumulus MX Announcements and Download - Topic, you stated that;

"This option allows disabling of Custom MySQL statements to use Extra Sensors values from a secondary station that not available during catch-up - the same applies to AirLink data".

Does this mean that you are not going to implement AirLink historic catch-up, from Weatherlink.com ?

Many thanks
Mike
