I've now recovered all the data from my backup and copied them to CumulusMX/data, but CMX sees to be ignoring them.

It sounds like you started afresh with this new install then.
You will need to set your records began date to the start of your data. Did you you also restore all the .ini files in the /data folder (except today.ini and yesterday.ini)?

Just found 'StartDateIso' in Cumulus.ini. It is correct: '2015-01-24'.

No, it is the *.ini files in the /data folder:
alltime.ini
month.ini
year.ini
They contain your records data.

I think the question was about adjusting the records began date?

yes, it was. i've checked the start date in both settings and cumulus.ini and it seems to be correct.

PS ...but it still ignores all the archive data.

In what ways is the old data ignored?

If you look at my web site (MuntyWeather.org) you will see that none of the data pre 8 Dec 2024 is processed into reports ( NOAA or Yadr). When I run Website you can see it doesn't access the data files (as it used to).

But wouldn't ask the old the NOAA reports have been on the web site from the previous version of MX? Cumulus only uploads the latest month and year files each day.
Yadr uses the day file, did you not restore that file either? As a day or so has passed now, you will have to merge the files manually in an editor.

I think my 'backup' script has overwritten the dayfile

Is there any way of reconstituting it? (Need to rewrite my backup script)

CMX does an automatic backup every day on rollover, look under /CumulusMX/backup/

Found the backup - thanks. Now have Yadr (just 3 days missed) but not yet NOAA. Presumably that will appear at roll-over (?)

No, as I stated above only the current month and year reports are uploaded each day.
The reports must have been on your web site before, did you delete them?
Anyway, you will have to manually upload all the older reports from your CMX /Reports folder.
