Paul I have my GW2000 sending data directly using the Weather Services option on the web interface, Ecowitt is the first one and just requires the interval set to 1 or more. If that's OK and it's not working then there is something strange with your GW2000.

Hi Stuart, and thanks, that has started me to identify the issue.
On that Local Network > Weather Services page I had seen the Ecowitt part and 1-minute with the MAC address of 30:C9:22:CE:63:9F and the link to Ecowitt.net. I now see this MAC is the same as on my WSView Plus app, but is different to the MAC 30:C9:22:CE:63:9C that I jotted down during the setup of the GW2000 last week before the LDS01 arrived. Likely that MAC difference is the cause it is not uploading. Any idea how to correct this?

Enjoy,
Paul

The mac address is picked up by the GW2000 and cannot be edited, it is that same mac which is used on Ecowitt. So I suggest you delete the GW2000 on Ecowitt using the Devices option on the hamburger menu at top left and then see if it appears again with the correct mac address and starts collecting data.

Thanks again Stuart.
Attached are images, are you suggesting I delete the GW2000 with the AC 30:C9:22:CE:63:9C ?
That scares me a bit. Would I loose my GW2000 connection and restart from scratch using 192.168.4.2 for setup? I know very little on network connections and feel quite uncomfortable in touching something that works.

Enjoy,
Paul

My understanding is that to display that data on Ecowitt the GW2000 sends data with the mac shown on the device screen locally so it will not display the data as the mac on Ecowitt is different which is why nothing shows.

How about initially adding a second GW2000 on Ecowitt with the correct mac and see if that works, if all is OK then delete the one with the wrong mac.

Hi Stuart,
I will be away for a bit but when I get back later today I'll give that a try. I think that may work as previously I had 4 GWxxxx.

Enjoy,
Paul

LDS01 received!

Tested with a bucket of water.
«LaserDepth1» shows depth. This is now on my website as Snødybde:
https://kronstad.utnet.no/
(This is Beta 4072)

I will go up and install this at the Rjoand-site on Monday to monitor real snow.

Edit:
The measurement is quite inaccurate, but manual states water level should be more than 20 cm. if not it reads the bottom. Will not be problem with snow.

The LDS01 did not like a bucket of water. It always measured the air distance to more than the Total height. Probably open air and reflections.
If I put solid objects under it, it measures correct.

Hopefully it will behave better when measuring snow.

We did have 1 cm new snow starting in the evening, but it did not get logged in diary.

Code: Select all

Selected Date	Wed Feb 05 2025
Time	08:00 AM
Comments	Automated entry
Snow Fall in last 24 hours (cm)	null
Snow Depth (cm)	null

Automated readings
Laser Depth #1
Adds an automated reading to the database from the above sensor at the snow reading time. This only creates the record if a manual record has not already been created.
I have added Custom Logs with the 'snow' webtags and this shows:

Code: Select all

04/02/25,New snow 24 hrs at 8:00 am: -, Snowpack: -, Snow observation: Automated entry
So looks like it is not yet being recorded in CMX.

The custom log for a manual diary entry shows:

Code: Select all

04/02/25,New snow 24 hrs at 8:00 am: 0.0, Snowpack: 9.0, Snow observation: No new snow, 9 cm snowpack

Checking the GW2000 Local Network CH1lds at various times shows: (this is like watching rain falling on your console ;) but not as pretty)
2025-02-04 08:00 Depth 092 and Air 808
2025-02-04 18:30 Depth 101 and Air 799 some light snow
2025-02-04 19:50 Depth 103 and Air 797 some more snow
2025-02-05 08:05 Depth 103 and Air 797 about 1 cm
2025-02-05 08:50 Depth 100 and Air 800 sun came out and possible some evaporation/melt
2025-02-05 08:58 Depth 099 and Air 801 sun still out
2025-02-05 09:40 Depth 098 and Air 802
2025-02-05 09:50 Depth 096 and Air 804

Enjoy,
Paul

Hi Paul,

If that is what you really see in the custom log than please remind that if your goal is to plot a chart, errors will occur on the non-number entries. And because there are no comma's between the text and the number - the field starts with text - it will be seen as an invalid number.

I am not sure how this is handled in CUtils. I assumed you would only have the numbers :o

Do you run B4072? Do you see it in the Extra sensors?

Edit:
I see now B4073 is out.

@Hans
This is what I have in Extra Logs

Code: Select all

New snow 24 hrs at 8:00 am: <#snow24hr>, Snowpack: <#snowdepth>, Snow observation: <#snowcomment>
Do I have it wrong?

@sutne, thanks
I didn't have it enabled

Enjoy,
Paul

Not necessarily no, but a log like this can't be charted. If it's good for you it's good :D

The CUtils customlogs module expects something like (only plottable numbers allowed):

Code: Select all

<#snow24hr>,<#snowdepth>
Your legend would go through the labels if I remember well so that would be the explaining text.

An alternative would be:

Code: Select all

New snow 24 hrs at 8:00 am:, <#snow24hr>, Snowpack:, <#snowdepth>, Snow observation:, <#snowcomment>
Note the comma's after the text parts.

This would make the texts illegal and be skipped (invalidated) and you would keep the numbers. I checked this and it should work but this has not been done before. It might require a change somewhere.

Hi Hans,
I've changed it to

Code: Select all

New snow 24 hrs at 8:00 am:, <#snow24hr>, Snowpack:, <#snowdepth>, Snow observation:, <#snowcomment>
and see how it does tomorrow.
The descriptions and #snowcomment were added because the webtags were available but really don't need them for display so can change to just the tags. But will wait until tomorrow.

Enjoy,
Paul
